A video has emerged on Twitter showing Soviet-born Saule Omarova, who is President Joe Biden’s pick to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, saying she wants coal, oil, and gas companies “to go bankrupt so we can tackle climate change.”

The American Accountability Foundation tweeted the video of Omarova’s incredible remarks: “We want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change, right?”

Daily Mail – She made the comments in February when appearing at the Jain Family Institute’s Social Wealth Seminar, where she was making the case for a National Investment Authority, which would pull resources from the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve to allocate public and private capital for green infrastructure projects.

The resurfaced clip could hinder Omarova’s ability to get all 50 Democrats to support her nomination, as every Republican is expected to vote against the Cornell University law professor.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks. It also supervises the federal branches and agencies of foreign banks.

It’s not the first time a prominent leftist openly threatened to bankrupt the coal, gas, and oil industries.

Hillary Clinton sunk her chances of winning in several states whose economies rely on the coal industry when she made the same mistake of threatening to put the coal industry out of business in 2016.
