A hero with the New York Police Department spoke with the media about his ‘MacGyver’ move to save a stabbing victim using a potato chip bag and duct tape (video below).

Officer Ronald Kennedy, a former EMT, and his partner were flagged down outside on the street in Harlem, where they found a man who had been stabbed in the chest.

“We requested a bag of potato chips and some tape, ’cause we knew right away that we needed to seal the chest. There was a puncture wound there … we didn’t want the air going in it, collapsing his lung.”

In the video, Kennedy yells, “Go get me a bag of potato chips right now!”

Kennedy dumps the chips and smoothes the bag out before putting it over the wound to tape it in place.

Kennedy told the victim:

“We got you; we got you, don’t touch! Stay with me, stay with me! Keep breathing, bro!”
