Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta appeared on Fox Business News where he was asked by Liz Claman why he is “the last US carrier holding out on the vaccine.”
“The reason the mandate was put in by the president, I believe, was because they wanted to make sure companies had a plan to get their employees vaccinated,” he said. “A month before the president came out with the mandate we’d already announced our plan to get all of our people vaccinated,” Bastian said, adding, “And the good news is Liz, the plan is working.”
“At Delta today, we are at 90% vaccinated across our entire company,” he said.
“I expect by the time we get to November, next month, we’re gonna be at 95% threshold. And when you consider there’s gonna be religious and some medical accommodations made that we’re gonna need to consider. By the time we’re done, we’ll be pretty close to fully vaccinated as a company without going through all the divisiveness of a mandate,” Ed Bastian told the Fox Business News host.
Bastian added, “We’re proving we can work collaboratively with our people—trusting your people to make the right decisions, respecting their decisions, and not you know, forcing them over the loss of their jobs.”
