Even when President Donald Trump honored a child who has battled brain cancer most of his life, Democratic lawmakers sat in silence throughout his congressional address earlier this week.

In the aftermath of their deeply partisan behavior, Fox News Channel producer Johnny Belisario of “Jesse Watters Primetime” tracked down several congressional Democrats to ask about their display.

As the outlet reported:

“You didn’t stand up for anything,” Belisario noted to New Jersey Senator Cory Booker.

“The president got before the American people and didn’t talk about how he could drive down grocery prices,” Booker responded.

Other Democratic lawmakers expressed frustration that Trump failed to address issues they felt were important.

When asked why she didn’t applaud for certain guests at the speech, including the mother of slain Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren refused to answer.

“I did clap, when he said that the United States has supported Ukraine,” Warren said.

However, when pressed on why she did not clap for Riley’s mother, she declined to respond.

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman acknowledged that some Democratic protests during the speech may not have been well-received.

The Democratic Party’s behavior immediately drew widespread public backlash:

Here’s a full transcript of the post above:

Words cannot describe how disgusted I am with the Democratic representatives in Congress tonight.

During his speech, President Trump honored a terminally ill child with brain cancer by presenting an honorary Secret Service award.

Yet, the Democrats refused to stand or applaud for the child.

If there is one moment from this speech that should be remembered, it is this.

There is tribal thinking, and then there is simply being a despicable human being.

Every Democratic representative who remained seated during this should be ashamed of what they have become.

Shame on them, and shame on everything the DNC has done to this party.

When you hold public office, you represent all your constituents—not just those who voted for you.

Every person in that room who refused to show basic decency should never hold office again.

Come the next election, remember this moment.

A handful of Democrats joined House Republicans in voting to censure the most disruptive lawmaker of the bunch, as CNN reported:

Ten Democrats joined with House Republicans on Thursday to censure Rep. Al Green for his protest during President Donald Trump’s address to Congress this week — a formal condemnation of the Texas Democrat’s actions.

The vote highlights divisions within the Democratic Party over how some members protested the president’s remarks. Locked out of power in Washington, Democrats are searching to find a compelling, unified message to counter Trump and the new administration – a struggle playing out not only on Capitol Hill but across the country.

Divergent tactics were on full display during the Tuesday night address, with some Democrats holding signs, walking out or boycotting it altogether. Others took a more muted approach, following the guidance of House Democratic leadership, who had urged members not to mount high-profile protests and to show restraint during the address, cautioning that the GOP could seize on such actions.

Here’s a clip of Belisario’s efforts on Capitol Hill:
