For more than a full decade, President Donald Trump has faced biased, misleading, and accusatory questions from the mainstream media at every turn.
Most of the time, he’s either brushed it off or hit back with one of his trademark retorts.
But when he sat down with NBC News’ Kristen Welker for an interview that aired this weekend, the hostility reached a boiling point, as Deadline reported:
As she pressed Trump on evidence for California’s election being rigged, he said, “All I have to do is look.”
Welker said, “But sir, that’s not evidence, and that’s how they count the votes in California.”
ADVERTISEMENTAfter some more back and forth, Trump said, “They’re crooked just like you’re crooked, your press is crooked. And Meet the Press is crooked.”
“To be fair, I’m not crooked. But let’s continue,” Welker responded.
Yet Trump’s irritation only grew. “Your elections are crooked and you’re crooked, and Meet the Press is crooked.”
As he went on, Welker tried to get a word in.
The president said, “You’re a one-sided crooked network. Sorry. Let’s call it quits because I’ve had enough. Thank you, darling. Have a good time.” He then took off his microphone.
While a breathless mainstream media feigned outrage over his abrupt ending to the interview, many of those who watched what led up to it agreed that his decision was appropriate:
She repeated the same "there's no evidence" lie over and over. There is in fact evidence. Overwhelming evidence.

The New York Post also covered the exchange:
Welker pleaded with Trump to continue, recalling how she trekked over to Wisconsin for the interview, but the president was done.
“I sat in the rain with you for an hour,” he grumbled.
ADVERTISEMENT“On and off in the rain, and I’ve given you enough time. You ought to straighten out your press,” he added. “A country can never be great with a dishonest press.”
After airing that testy exchange, Welker revealed that she spoke with Trump afterward and he agreed to do a follow-up interview with her.
