This is the kind of video that makes your stomach drop before the boat ever hits the water.
A high-performance catamaran called Dirty Duck blasted through the finish line at 213 mph during Saturday’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, then suddenly lifted off the lake, rotated nearly vertical and crashed back down.
The footage shows just how quickly a record-setting run turned into a terrifying airborne ride:

Somehow, the boat came back down upright. Even more remarkably, both men inside the sealed cockpit survived.
KY3 reports that event organizers identified the crew as driver Adam Seraphine and throttleman Rusty Williams. Both men were hurt, but organizers said their injuries were not life-threatening.
The 213 mph pass was counted, and Dirty Duck finished Saturday with the fastest speed of the day. Reports from the scene say Seraphine suffered a broken leg while Williams avoided serious injury.

The 38th annual Shootout ran August 29 and 30 on a three-quarter-mile course at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. The event brings some of the fastest powerboats in the country together for individual speed runs, with crews balancing tremendous horsepower against an unforgiving stretch of open water.
Speed on the Water reports that Dirty Duck’s 213 mph blast stood as Saturday’s leading run before American Ethanol reached 215 mph on Sunday and claimed the weekend’s overall Top Gun honors. That distinction matters: Dirty Duck’s pass was the fastest of the day when the crash happened, but it was not the final winning speed for the two-day event.
