Whatever happened to having fun with friends and trick or treating on Halloween?

On Friday night, “local youths” wreaked havoc across our nation’s capital city.

Several hundred rowdy thugs swarmed D.C., disrupting traffic and starting fights.

At one point in the evening, they even clashed with the National Guard in Navy Yard.

Absolute chaos.

Multiple teenagers were arrested, and at least one police officer was injured.

Per Daily Mail:

Five teenagers were arrested following Friday night’s violent clash with the National Guard in Washington DC.

An officer was injured during the melee after hundreds of youths descended on the city’s famed Navy Yard just after 7.30pm on Halloween, DC Police said.

The teens were peaceful at first but as the night progressed the, ‘group began engaging in fights and disrupting the flow of traffic, repeatedly ignoring instructions to remain on the sidewalks.’

Dramatic video shot by a nearby resident showed teenagers pursued by police, including the National Guardsmen, running in the park. Screams can be heard in the chaos.

Police – alongside the National Guard, Capitol Police, Metro Transit Police, and a Federal Task Force – closed down the streets in the area and worked to disperse the group.

By 11pm, the group had dispersed, and five were arrested.

Kaeden Brown, 18, was arrested for allegedly being in possession of a knife.

Four minors, between the ages of 14 and 16, were also arrested on various charges, including public consumption of marijuana, affray, and failing to obey.

Additional arrests were made by the Metro Transit Police, DC Police said, but it is unclear how many. Daily Mail has reached out for further details.

One officer was injured in the debacle after he was thrown to the ground. He was treated on the scene by EMS.

‘The behavior displayed last night in the Navy Yard is unacceptable,’ Chief Pamela A. Smith said in a statement.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the city is imposing a curfew through the next week:

We are declaring a limited juvenile curfew in Washington, DC.

Effective immediately, all juveniles under the age of 18 are subject to a curfew from 11PM until 6AM, which will extend through 11/5.

This is in response to several weeks of disorderly juvenile behavior which endangered both themselves and others.

The New York Post shared more details on the curfew:

The move comes just a few months after President Trump mobilized thousands of National Guard troops who were deployed to the nation’s capital to combat what he described as a “crisis” of crime.

Bowser’s order which runs through Nov. 5 allows police to set up so-called “special zones”, or high risk areas where law enforcement can enforce curfews as early as 6 p.m.

Four of the zones will go into effect on Saturday. They include Banneker Recreation Center, Union Station, Navy Yard and the U Street Corridor.

The limited curfew goes into effect Saturday at 11 p.m. local time and ends at 6 a.m.

Any minor or juvenile who violates the curfew will face a fine of up to $300 or up to 10 days in jail, according to authorities.

DC police have also been authorized by the mayor to set up temporary curfew zones in areas where more than eight minors congregate, posing a potentially heightened threat to public safety.

The curfew was announced following a violent clash involving scores of teens on Halloween night at the Navy Yard, where at least 10 people, including one 18-year-old and four minors, were booked on charges including public marijuana use, affray and failure to obey.

The curfew is not enough.
