Fox News sparked headlines recently when it severed ties with longtime host Maria Bartiromo.

The Trump White House was among those who spoke out against the decision.

According to The Hill:

Top Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro said the White House complained to Fox News leadership about the network’s decision to oust host Maria Bartiromo last week.

“But suffice it to say that Suzanne Scott got a call, and basically the White House let her know that that kind of thing is totally unacceptable,” Navarro said, referring to Fox News CEO, during a Tuesday appearance on Newsmax.

After Bartiromo and the network parted ways abruptly last week, several news outlets reported the host shared details of internal editorial directives with officials in the White House.

“She just went out and fired Maria Bartiromo,” Navarro said of Scott. “And that place is out of control.”

The exchange fueled some social media discussion:

CNN added these details:

Fox News is “suppressing MAGA news” and enforcing a “shadow ban” of some of President Donald Trump’s surrogates, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro charged in an audacious op-ed on Tuesday.

Navarro also defended Maria Bartiromo, the longtime Fox host and Trump friend the network ousted last week. And he addressed his role in the Bartiromo dust-up.

Tuesday’s op-ed is part of a deepening dispute between Fox News and the Trump White House over coverage of Trump’s election fraud claims.

The drama dates back to mid-July, when the president delivered a prime-time speech and made many claims about election vulnerabilities, including supposed interference by China.
