Joe Biden has been making some pretty serious public gaffes lately that have left the White House having to do some major damage control. Since Biden has gained international recognition for his habit of grossly misspeaking (i.e., calling for a regime change in Russia), he has shown no improvement in choosing his words carefully.
On Thursday, while announcing the planned release of 180 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve over the next six months, Biden stated, “If your home is powered by safer, cheaper, cleaner electricity like solar or heat pumps, you can save about $500 a month on average.”
The White House later released a transcript of Biden’s speech, but crossed out the word “month” and replaced it with “year”. That’s a pretty significant difference.
Aside from Biden’s misspeaking, he made an intentional statement that was received with more shock from the public than his actual mistake.
Biden suggested that “we can take advantage of the next generation of electric vehicles, that a typical driver will save about $80 a month from not having to pay gas at the pump.”
Biden says you “will save about $80 a month from not having to pay gas at the pump"… if you buy an electric car..

He really suggested that buying a car that costs $64,685 on average would be a money saver.
An average new compact car is $26,196, and Biden is suggesting that saving about $960 a year would… save you money? This would cost people way more than they are spending on gas.
Assuming someone is driving an average-priced compact car and switches to an electric car, it would take approximately 40 years to make up the price difference in “savings at the pump”. That’s not even factoring in the price of electricity it would take to charge your electric vehicle, and assuming the average price of gas stays constant.
Does he realize how many people are struggling in this country with supporting themselves and their families? Basically, if you have the disposable income to afford an electric car, you likely aren’t struggling at the gas pump.
It’s crazy that the Left has been able to turn a blind eye to this statement when they would normally be destroying him for his “privilege”.
