A Reuters investigation that was a continuation of so-called ‘Critical Race Theory’, which is meant to prove that slavery and discrimination against Black people is engrained in to America’s DNA, found that every living President is a descendant of slaveholders with the exception of former President and 2024 Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Even Barack Obama, a Democrat and the nation’s first African-American President, is the descendant of slaveholders on his mothers side of the family.

A number of US Governors, legislators, and Supreme Court Justices are also the descendants of slaves according to the report.

Prominent Democratic Senators such as Elizabeth Warren, D-Ma. and Tammy Duckworth, D-Il. were also found to be the descendants of slaveholders.

Trump’s family did not immigrate to the United States until his paternal grandfather, Frederick Trump, immigrated to the United States in 1885.

The revelation comes as many prominent Democrats have advocated for reparations for slaves that Americans who are not descended from slaves would also be forced to pay.

Warren, one of the Democratic Senators who is descended from slaveholders, has co-sponsored legislation that would ‘Study and Develop’ Reparations proposals.

In the 2020 Democratic Primary for President, Warren said that she supports reparations and that Americans need to ‘have a conversation’ about the issue.

A Reuters investigation into the genealogies of America’s leading political figures reveals a legacy of slavery in the nation’s corridors of power.

A staggering fifth of the country’s lawmakers, living presidents, Supreme Court justices, and governors can directly trace their lineage back to ancestors who enslaved Black people.

This finding includes Joe Biden and every living former U.S. president, with the single exception of President Donald Trump, are direct descendants of individuals who once enslaved Black people.

According to Reuters, the list includes former presidents Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and – Barack Obama through his white mother’s lineage. Trump’s family immigrated to the U.S. after the abolition of slavery.

Connections to slavery also reach to the highest court in the nation, with two out of nine sitting U.S. Supreme Court justices – Amy Coney Barrett and Neil Gorsuch – being direct descendants of slaveholders.
