Elon Musk claimed Monday morning that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) sent $59 million “last week to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.”
“Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order. That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high end hotels for illegals! A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds,” he added.

From the New York Post:
Last month, Trump signed an executive order to create a council to review FEMA as he expressed concerns over “serious concerns of political bias” in the agency.
The 47th president called on the council to have its first meeting within 90 days — saying he expects a report of the findings on his desk within 180 days of the council’s first meeting.
ADVERTISEMENTDays earlier, Trump, 78, appeared alongside still-homeless survivors of Hurricane Helene four months after the storm where he raised the idea of overhauling FEMA altogether.
The POTUS slammed the performance of the agency, saying it was “not on the ball … and we’re going to turn it all around.”
“Under Biden, FEMA betrayed the American people by diverting funds meant for natural disasters to pay for luxury hotels for illegal migrants,” Musk commented.

President Trump has already discussed the idea of possibly getting rid of FEMA.
“I’ll also be signing an executive order to begin the process of fundamentally reforming and overhauling FEMA or maybe getting rid of FEMA. I think, frankly, FEMA is not good,” Trump previously said.
“Whether it’s a Democrat or Republican governor, you want to use your state to fix it and not waste time calling FEMA. And then FEMA gets here and they don’t know the area. They’ve never been to the area. They want to give you rules that you’ve never heard about. They want to bring people that aren’t as good as the people you already have,” Trump continued.
“FEMA has turned out to be a disaster,” he added.

Daily Mail reports:
The federal government under former President Joe Biden faced a backlash for housing migrants in hotels rather than spending the money on arrest and deportation efforts.
Biden also spent funds on providing other aid to illegal immigrants, including giving them cell phones.
ADVERTISEMENTFEMA falls under the purview of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.
The former South Dakota governor said Sunday that if Trump asked her about FEMA, she would recommend that he ‘get rid’ of the agency.
It comes just one week after the thousands of employees with USAID (United States Agency for International Development) woke up to emails instructing them to stay home because the Washington, D.C. headquarters were shuttered.
Others were shocked to find themselves locked out of their work systems last week – and those overseas were told that travel back to the U.S. would be arranged within 30 days.
FEMA could be next on the chopping block, but it raises concern for those who are worried Americans faced with emergencies and natural disasters will no longer receive much-needed government aid in the future.
