Ford is recalling over 850,000 vehicles due to a low-pressure fuel pump inside the vehicles that may fail.
The issue could potentially cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall impacts various Ford and Lincoln models.
“Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Bronco, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, 2021-2022 Lincoln Navigator, Mustang, F-150, and 2022 Expedition vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump may fail, which can result in an engine stall while driving,” a recall notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) read.
“The remedy is under development. Owner notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed July 14, 2025. Second letters will be sent once the remedy is available,” it continued.

More from the Associated Press:
The recall covers a wide range of Ford and Lincoln-branded vehicles made in recent model years. That includes certain Ford Broncos, Explorers and F-150s, as well as Lincoln Aviators and Navigators, documents published this week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration note.
Ford plans to send out notification letters to affected owners starting this Monday (July 14), to warn of safety risks related to potential fuel pump failure. But a remedy is still “under development,” the NHTSA’s recall report notes.
It wasn’t immediately clear if there was an estimate for when a fix would become available. But this week’s recall report noted that owners will receive an additional letter with instructions to take their car to an authorized dealer for that service when the time comes — and that there will be no charge.
The impacted models include:
Ford:
- 2021-2022 F-150, Mustang
- 2021-2023 Bronco, Explorer, F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD
- 2022 Expedition
Lincoln:
- 2021-2022 Navigator
- 2021-2023 Aviator
Ford estimates that approximately 10% of the recalled vehicles could be affected by the fuel pump issue.

CBS News noted:
Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford has issued 89 recalls with the NHTSA so far this year, impacting more than 5 million vehicles, according to the federal agency’s recall records. That’s more safety recalls within six months than any automaker has issued in a year, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The latest fuel pump-related recall follows a similar safety recall in January, involving 295,449 diesel-engine trucks with high-pressure fuel pumps.
