Rosie O’Donnell issued an apology for falsely claiming the Minneapolis Catholic church shooter was a MAGA supporter.
According to the New York Post, O’Donnell posted a video last week suggesting the shooter was a “Republican, MAGA person, white supremacist.”
“The truth is, I messed up,” O’Donnell said.
“I’m sorry. This is my apology video,” she added.

More from the New York Post:
O’Donnell’s claims were immediately proved false after it emerged that the 23-year-old shooter in fact had scribbled “Kill Donald Trump” on one of his gun magazines.
Still, it didn’t stop the “A League of Their Own” star from doubling down.
“Saw about the Minnesota shooting, and it brought me right back to Columbine in 1999 when I just could not get it through my head that students in America were shooting each other in schools,” she falsely asserted on TikTok.
“This was a church inside a Catholic school. And what do you know? This was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person, what do you know? White supremacist.”
“The NRA is a terrorist organization. And they have been for many years,” she said, before blasting America for valuing guns over kids.
“When is enough enough, America? Haven’t you had enough of Donald Trump? The Heritage Foundation? All their bulls–t? He’s their puppet … but guess what? It’s coming to an end.”
Despite her claims, Westman was a self-identified transgender woman who had a nihilistic viewpoint and an obsession with past mass shooters.

Some social media users weren’t convinced of the sincerity of O’Donnell’s apology.
Fox News explained:
Her apology drew sharp criticism online. One user called it “the most unapologetic apology ever.” Another wrote, “She’s not sorry, she still means exactly what she said.” A third said she was “trying to save face, because she opened her mouth and was so wrong.”
ADVERTISEMENTIn the comments, O’Donnell replied to one critic, writing, “I was wrong – and I apologize – what more do [you] want?”
Others said the misstep reflected a bigger problem. “It’s good that you apologized, but this is what is keeping this country so divided,” one person wrote. “So much mistruths being spread by both sides. People need to fact check every single political thing that they see because the majority of it is a lie.”
O’Donnell’s remarks came less than a week after the gunman opened fire during a Mass at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, where students from the attached school were gathered.
The gunfire shattered stained-glass and pew-side windows as students and parishioners ducked for cover.
FBI Director Kash Patel said Thursday the “barbaric” attack appeared to be an act of domestic terrorism “motivated by a hate-filled ideology.”
