After several days of intimidating protests outside the homes of conservative SCOTUS justices, Biden AG Garland is finally sending US Marshals
Since the leak of Justice Alito’s draft opinion on overturning Roe v Wade early in May, the conservative SCOTUS Justices have been doxxed and protests by radical left pro-abortion advocates have been held outside of their homes. This had been going on for several days, with the intention of intimidating the court into changing course and upholding the “right” to an abortion, when Biden’s Attorney General Garland finally decided May 12th that maybe the U.S. Marshals Service’s are needed to protect the Justices.
In a statement from the U S Justice Department, it was revealed that the U.S. Marshals Service’s have been deemed necessary and will be loaned to the protection of the SCOTUS Justices being threatened.
“Attorney General Garland continues to be briefed on security matters related to the Supreme Court and Supreme Court Justices. The Attorney General directed the U.S. Marshals Service to help ensure the Justices’ safety by providing additional support to the Marshal of the Supreme Court and Supreme Court Police,”
Although these protests outside of Justices’ homes are reportedly against federal law–as they should be–Garland was suspiciously slow to take any action to quell protests or protect SCOTUS members.
Given that the White House took a “neutral” approach on the protests, and Pelosi encouraged them, it is possible that Garland was also hoping that the protests would achieve their political ends before he would be forced into action.
Chief Justice Roberts has reportedly been attempting to discourage the other 5 conservative Justices from overturning Roe, however Alito and co. are staying course for what will be the largest conservative victory through the Supreme Court in a long time. Even if Roberts is to do as he often does and vote alongside the liberal minority in the Court, Roe is on course to be overturned. These protests have not changed that.
Biden, Pelosi, and Garland have failed in their mission of empowering protesters to achieve intimidation of the court.
