A flight from Dubai to New York City stops at Mecca. 100 people fall ill on the flight with temperatures reported to be 100 degrees and over 100 degrees. The media is suggesting it likely a flu outbreak.
CBS New York is reporting that a plane from Dubai landed at JFK Airport and was held away from the terminal after several passengers on board reported feeling sick.
The Emirates Airbus A380 arrived at Terminal 4 and was met by the Centers for Disease Control and Port Authority police. Seven passengers were transported to a local hospital.
Emirates Flight 203 landed in New York Wednesday shortly after 9 a.m. with 500 people on board.
Larry Cohen, a passenger on the flight is tweeting about the situation.
Cohen is claiming that the CDC is now on board the plane.
Passengers can be seen in the images below having their temperatures taken on the tarmac.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., Emirates Airlines said only 10 passengers from Dubai had taken ill. Previous reports estimated the number of sick passengers at closer to 100 people.
According to Sam Sweeney of ABC News, over 100 passengers have fevers over 100 degrees.

“On arrival, as a precaution, they were attended to by local health authorities,” it said. “All others will disembark shortly. The safety & care of our customers is our first priority.”
It’s now being reported that the flight from Dubai stopped at Mecca on it’s way to JFK Airport. The New York City Mayor’s press secretary, Eric Phillips tweeted that “Early indidcations point” to the stop in Mecca “as a POSSIBILITY” for the “flu outbreak”.
