You get what you vote for…
Oakland, California City Council voted early in June of this year to defund the police by $17 million. This came as a crime in Oakland had skyrocketed. THIS was their solution??? The City Council said they would “redirect the funds from the police department to the Department of Violence Prevention with the intention of improving public safety.” Isn’t this what the police are for in the first place?
The consequence of defunding the police in Oakland, CA, has resulted in a high-profile politician being robbed and assaulted. Former California Sen. Barbara Boxer was assaulted and robbed today while walking in Oakland.
Two things happened when the police were defunded:
1. 50 fewer police officers to patrol the streets
2. Longer wait times for 911 calls
The New York Post reports the ex-congresswoman, 80, who retired in 2017, was attacked by an assailant in the city’s Jack London Square neighborhood, according to a statement posted on Boxer’s Twitter account. The suspect punched the former lawmaker in the back and stole her phone before fleeing in a waiting car.
Even former Democrat senators are feeling Biden’s crime wave. Former CA Senator Barbara Boxer was assaulted and robbed in Oakland today.
Thief stole her smartphone before hopping into a waiting car.
