According to Fox News, the body of missing college student Mollie Tibbetts was found Tuesday, two sources told Fox News, bringing an end to an intensive search that lasted more than a month and captured national headlines.

A law enforcement source told Fox News the body was found in Iowa, but more specific details about the location were not released. Greg Willey, the vice president of Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa, also told the Associated Press the body found Tuesday is believed to be Tibbetts.

According to ABC-7, a body was discovered on Tuesday, Greg Willey, the vice president of Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa, told AP. He said they believe it is Mollie Tibbetts.

In a press release, authorities confirmed that a body was found but said they were working to confirm the identity. The body was found in rural Poweshiek County, Iowa, the same county where Tibbetts’ town of Brooklyn is located.

In July, the father of Mollie Tibbetts begged for someone to call and offer authorities a tip on the disappearance of his 20-year-old missing daughter. Tibbetts boyfriend also spoke about her disappearance in an ABC News exclusive:

Mollie Tibbetts went on an evening run two weeks ago and hasn’t been seen since. Dozens of volunteers have scoured rural Brooklyn, Iowa, searching for the psychology major — including a spontaneous, 400-person search formed the day after she disappeared.

On August 1, 2018, police were taken to the doorstep of Deep River resident Wayne Cheney’s home.  “I don’t know who those two were but they took me down to the fire station Tuesday and questioned me for two hours.” Cheney went on to say, “I don`t remember what they asked me.”

Cheney also lives within walking distance the hog farms investigators reportedly searched recently while investigating the twenty-year old University of Iowa student’s disappearance.  He said, “I just thought it was a waste of time but oh well.”

His location to the hog farms along with Iowa court documents that show Cheney has entered guilty pleas on two occasions for stalking, once in Poweshiek County in 2009 and again in Marion County just four years ago.  DCI officials could not confirm or deny the questioning of Cheney or whether or not he has been cleared as a suspect.  Cheney says he does not know the Tibbetts family and hopes Mollie is found soon.

Cheney is interviewed in the video below:

After an extensive search of Cheney’s farm, no body was found.

Less than one month ago, we asked, “WTH is going on here“? Why are so many young people missing in one state in one month?

48 young people vanished in Iowa in the month of July.

On July 31, 2018, the New York Post reported that the 20-year-old college student who was missing in Iowa is one of 48 young people who have vanished in the state in the month of July, according to reports.

The seemingly alarming number of missing persons cases has sparked widespread panic on social media and a flood of conspiracy theories as the search intensifies for Mollie Tibbetts, who was last seen July 19.

“40 people have gone missing in Iowa in 10 days. 40. People. How is this possible ?!!!!!!!!!!!?!” posted one person on Facebook, adding: “keep tabs on your friends and family, be aware of everything and everyone around you.”

Added Heather Loshaw in a local Facebook group: “WTH is going on here?? Be careful out there please.”

Here’s a close up look at the list of missing people in Iowa posted by Heather Loshaw:

“Don’t think it can’t happen to you,” warned Shannon Kelly on Twitter, in a post that was shared thousands of times. “It’s happening across rural and urban Iowa.”

The Iowa Department of Public Safety has received many calls about the missing persons statistics since Tibbetts’ disappearance, the Argus Leader reported.

But the department tried to quell the panic by clarifying that the number isn’t unusual — and that not all the cases are kidnappings or sex trafficking-related.

Last year alone, 4,311 young people were reported missing to The Missing Person Information Clearinghouse — about 12 a day, according to WQAD.

“The vast majority of which are found or returned home within 24 hours,” they said in a statement, adding that the majority of the people included in the data are runaways.
