Police and other emergency personnel are responding to a shooting at Michigan State University in East Lansing that has left at least three people dead and wounded at least five people who have been transported to a nearby hospital.

Some of these victims have sustained life-threatening injuries, according to Interim Deputy Police Chief Chris Rozman.

Around 8:18 pm on Monday evening, officers began receiving calls about an active shooter near MSU’s Berkey Hall.

The suspect has not been apprehended yet, but the first confirmed photos of the suspect have been released by MSU Police and Public Safety, who posted the photos to Twitter saying, “The suspect is a Black male, shorter in stature, red shoes, jean jacket, wearing a baseball cap that is navy with a lighter brim.”

One video being shared on social media appears to show the suspect walking down the street after the shooting in front of the SAE fraternity house. The video was allegedly taken over an hour ago.

The video’s accuracy is currently unconfirmed, but the individual in the video matches the description released by law enforcement.

Now, it is being reported by the MSU Police and Campus Safety that the suspected shooter is dead.

According to the police scanner in East Lansing, MI, where MSU is located, a person matching the identity of the mass MSU shooter has reportedly shot himself about 3 miles from campus. According to the scanner, the person who has been confirmed DOA or “dead on arrival” also had a second gun in his backpack.

According to the police scanner report, the person who shot himself had no pulse.

We cannot confirm the identity of the person who allegedly shot and killed himself. Once his identity is confirmed, we will report an update to this story.
