Just hours after Joe Biden announced six new controls on gun rights, the Governor of Tennessee signed a bill allowing most adults over 21 to buy handguns without background checks.

GOP Governor Bill Lee said, “it shouldn’t be hard for law-abiding Tennesseans to exercise their rights.” The governor was referring to the Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms.

Governor Lee tweeted out a photo of the signing where he thanked the members of the Tennessee General Assembly and the NRA for their help in getting this done. Tennessee joins 18 other states now that have the same permitless carry law. According to the Tennessean, the law takes effect on July 1.

Governor Lee initially proposed the NRA-backed legislation in 2020 before the COVID pandemic caused Tennessee lawmakers to narrow focus on the pandemic.

He signed the bill just a few hours after Joe Biden announced six executive orders on gun control.

Biden caused shockwaves amongst conservatives when he spoke at the White House today to announce the executive orders by saying, “no Amendment in the constitution is absolute” and said gun violence in the U.S. is an ‘international embarrassment.”

The Daily Mail reports Biden announced six gun control executive orders: a crackdown on the proliferation of ‘ghost guns,’ which are built from kits; tighten requirements on pistol braces that allow for more accurate shooting; the Department of Justice will publish ‘red flag’ legislation for the states; invest in evidence-based community violence interventions, and the DOJ will issue an annual report on gun trafficking.

Biden also announced that this is just the beginning of more gun control:

“So, folks, this is just the start. We’ve got a lot of work to do. But I know almost every one of you sitting in the garden here; none of you have ever given up. We’re not going to give up now.”
