This is huge, and honestly I can’t believe it’s taken this long.

I also can’t believe it’s been standard practice for decades to let people retain high level security clearances after they’ve long been out of office, but it has.

That has always made zero sense to me and seems like an intentional huge loose end to enable all sorts of leakage for the Deep State.

But Tulsi Gabbard and President Trump are finally putting a stop to it, starting with these 37:

Here are more details on those involved, from the NY Post:

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced the revocation of 37 security clearances of current and former officials who “abused public trust by politicizing and manipulating” information — including several who were involved in a controversial, Barack Obama-ordered assessment of Russian influence in the 2016 election.

An ODNI memo dated Monday announced that the more than three dozen intel professionals — including a former top aide to Obama DNI James Clapper — had either politicized or weaponized intelligence, failed to safeguard classified info or not followed tradecraft standards.

“The President has directed that, effective immediately, the security clearances of the following 37 individuals are revoked,” the memo stated.

“Their access to classified systems, facilities, materials, and information is to be terminated forthwith. Any contracts or employment with the U.S. Government by these 37 individuals is hereby terminated. Any credentials held by these individuals must be surrendered to the appropriate security officers.”

The 37 include Vinh Nguyen, who assisted Clapper in producing the now-discredited 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment on Russia’s preference for then-candidate Donald Trump in the 2016 contest with Hillary Clinton.

Politico reported:

President Donald Trump revoked security clearances for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and a string of top Democrats and political foes in a presidential memo late Friday.

“I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information,” Trump wrote.

He went on to name a list of 15 opponents and Biden-era officials, including Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, former Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger and New York Attorney General Letitia James, who prosecuted Trump for fraud, as well as former president Biden’s entire family.

It is unclear what formal security clearance was possessed by some of the figures named in the memo. Trump had already announced his intention to rescind security clearance for Biden in February, and National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard said on March 10 that she had revoked access for Blinken, James and others per Trump’s directive.

Barring Biden from intelligence briefings is a tit-for-tat move after Biden banned Trump from accessing classified documents in 2021, arguing he could not be trusted because of his “erratic behavior.”

The New York Post added:

The list includes his three past presidential election opponents — Clinton, Biden and Harris — as well as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

“Any other member of Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s family” will also be impacted by the memo.

Former Biden administration officials Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan and Lisa Monaco are also on the list, as is anti-Trump Republicans Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney.

Alexander Vindman, a key witness who led to House Democrats impeaching Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in 2019; Fiona Hill, a former Trump administration official who also served as a witness in the impeachment over Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky; Mark Zaid, who represented the whistleblower in the 2019 impeachment; Andrew Weissman, the lead prosecutor in former special counsel Robert Mueller’s Trump investigation; and Norman Eisen, special counsel to the Democrat-led House Judiciary Committee during the impeachment will all have their security clearance stripped as well.

“I hereby direct every executive department and agency head to take all additional action as necessary and consistent with existing law to revoke any active security clearances held by the aforementioned individuals and to immediately rescind their access to classified information,” Trump, 78, wrote.

The president also ordered executive department and agency heads to “revoke unescorted access to secure United States Government facilities from these individuals.”

Trump’s memo notes that he’s cutting off “classified briefings, such as the President’s Daily Brief, and access to classified information held by any member of the Intelligence Community by virtue of the named individuals’ previous tenure in the Congress” from the individuals on the list.

“In the event that any of the named individuals received a security clearance by virtue of their employment with a private entity, the United States Government entity that granted the security clearance should inform the private entity that these individuals’ ability to access classified information has been revoked,” the president wrote.

I don't know about you, but to me, the timing of this mass revocation of security clearances seems purposeful, as with everything President Trump does.

It feels like a calculated move.
