Van-life blogger and Instagramer Gabby Petito, and her fiance Brian Laundrie took off for a cross-country adventure in a converted van on July 2, 2021. The couple lived together in North Port, Florida. The last time her family heard from her was on August 25.

They had been dating since March 2019 and got engaged in July 2020, according to posts on both Petito’s and Laundrie’s Instagram accounts.

Gabby’s parents reported her missing on September 11, after not hearing from her for several days.

Brian Laundrie returned to his parent’s home in Florida while his 23-year-old fiance Gabby Petito was missing.  Her body was eventually found in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

Shortly after he returned, Laundrie left his parent’s home and disappeared.

For several weeks, a manhunt was underway for him near his parent’s North Port, Florida home.

His remains were eventually discovered in the Florida reserve near his parent’s house on October 20. Until now, the cause of death was not revealed.

The Daily Mail is now reporting that an initial autopsy was inconclusive but the Laundrie family lawyer, Steve Bertolino, said on Tuesday he had been told by the forensic anthropologist who took over that he died by a single gunshot wound to the head.

‘Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was suicide.

Bertolino later revealed to Fox News that one of the family’s guns was missing when Laundrie vanished, but that they kept it secret because they didn’t want the public to panic.

It remains unclear where the gun is now.

We didn’t want the public going into a frenzy on that. I don’t think they considered him dangerous to anybody he met on the street,’ he said.
