Barbara Bush, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, reportedly donated $2,500 to a super PAC supporting Democrat James Talarico for U.S. Senate.

The former first daughter gave the donation to Lone Star Rising PAC, which is supporting Talarico against Republican Ken Paxton.

“FEC filings confirmed the contribution to Lone Star Rising PAC, which accounts for nearly all of Talarico’s outside spending. Analysts say the real story isn’t the dollar amount — it’s that Bush made zero effort to hide her identity. She could have routed the money through a 501c4 and stayed completely anonymous. She chose not to,” Fox News wrote.

“Barbara Bush, 44, currently serves as VP of social impact and inclusion at the NBA and lists a Brooklyn address on her filing. The Bush family has long been rumored to have a frosty relationship with President Trump dating back to the 2016 campaign, when Trump mocked both his mother and brother during that race,” it continued.

Fox News shared further:

According to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, Bush works with the league internationally to use the “convening power of basketball” to support humanitarian efforts involving social justice, “health equity” and sustainability.

She also co-founded the Global Health Corps geared toward empowering youth to solve global health issues. She and Hager also co-authored several children’s books.

“She didn’t give it to a 501(c)(4), in which her contribution would’ve been completely anonymous. She gave it to a PAC that reports all the money in and out,” Texas campaign finance expert Andrew Cates said, according to the outlet.

However, her backing of Talarico shouldn’t come as a huge shocker.

She campaigned for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

More from Austin American-Statesman:

Bush told People Magazine in 2010 that she did not identify with either political party, according to Politico. She has been a vocal supporter of women’s rights and said she backed the Harris-Walz campaign because she hoped “they’ll move our country forward and protect women’s rights.” She was among a group of daughters of former Republican politicians — some of whom were politicians themselves, such as former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming — who supported Harris.
