The Democrat-run city of Baltimore has received its fair share of negative press over the past 5 years. In April 2015, while Democrat Barack Obama was President of the United States, Black Lives Matter burned much of Baltimore to the ground during violent riots over the death of Freddie Gray. Two weeks ago, Baltimore’s former Democrat state senator and ex-Democrat Mayor Catherine Pough, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for fraudulently selling her self-published children’s books to nonprofit organizations to help promote her political career.

The Baltimore mayoral office has been troubled for more than a decade. Pugh is the third Baltimore mayor in a row to vacate office in a cloud of shame. Her predecessor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, chose not to run for re-election following the death of Freddie Gray and subsequent city riots in 2015. Her response to the crises was widely criticized. Once a rising star of the Democrat Party, Rawlings-Blake, just 49, is now out of politics.

Rawlings-Blake began her mayoral stint in the fog of another disgraced Baltimore mayor, Sheila Dixon. Dixon was investigated for theft, fraud, embezzlement, and perjury shortly after taking office in 2008. The most notable crime was the theft of donated gift cards intended for needy families, which she used to purchase several fur coats and designer shoes.

In 2019, Baltimore was again, in the news, after a nasty spat between Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings and President Trump shined a light on his rat and rodent-infested district in West Baltimore.

Today, while issuing a state of emergency related to the coronavirus, Baltimore’s Democrat mayor, Jack Young pleaded with the citizens of Baltimore to stop shooting each other, so hospitals will have room for coronavirus victims.

The Washington Examiner reports – A mass shooting in a park on Tuesday left seven Baltimore residents hospitalized. In a statement about the shooting, Young said hospitals don’t have room to tolerate gunshot victims as the coronavirus pandemic sweeps across the United States.

“We cannot clog up our hospitals and their beds with people that are being shot senselessly, because we’re going to need those beds for people who might be infected with the coronavirus,” Young said on Wednesday. “And it could be your mother, your grandmother, or one of your relatives. So take that into consideration.”

He added, “I want to reiterate how completely unacceptable the level of violence is that we have seen recently. We will not stand for mass shootings and an increase in crime.”

Young said that the city would be looking to arrest those responsible for any shootings that take place, saying, “For those of you who want to continue to shoot and kill people of this city, we’re not going to tolerate it. We’re going to come after you, and we’re going to get you.”

There has been an uptick in gun violence since Friday, according to Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison. The mass shooting on Tuesday night left all seven victims in serious, but stable, condition. One responding officer was also shot during the incident, and the department is still searching for the gunman.

Young has been criticized for not taking responsibility for the problems in his city. He has brushed off such criticisms, saying, “I’m not committing the murders … It’s not any lack of leadership on my part. I’ve been moving this city forward.”
