Fair Warning: Watching the movie that has eerie similarities to what’s going on with the coronavirus in China may turn some people into germaphobes and hermits.

The 2011 movie Contagion (watch below) jumped into the top ten charts on iTunes this week because it’s been mentioned by numerous people on social media as being very similar to what’s happening with the coronavirus spreading around the world right now.

Having watched the movie this week, it’s true. Many of the plotlines in the movie parallel what’s happening in 2020. It’s very believable and that’s why it’s so interesting and frightening.

Contagion is all about a global epidemic that originated in Hong Kong and kills millions. The movie takes a look at different organizations responsible for helping stop outbreaks. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) are all depicted in the movie as secretive about the outbreak.

The movie has an all-star cast with Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon and Kate Winslet.

The movie is worth a watch because it tosses out all of the possibilities of what can happen with an outbreak like this. It makes you think.

Coincidentally, The World Health Organization just declared the coronavirus outbreak a global health emergency.
