Disgraced Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is heading back to prison after being sentenced in New York for sexual assault.

Now, you may be wondering: hasn’t Weinstein already been convicted?

The answer is yes, but his original conviction was overturned in 2024.

A retrial was held, and he was sentenced to 15 years behind bars today.

The case specifically centered around sexual assault allegations from former Project Runway production assistant Miriam Haley, who described Weinstein’s devastating impact on her as a “life sentence.”

Reportedly, Weinstein begged the judge for mercy — but was swiftly denied.

Convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein grovelled for “mercy” during his sentencing in a Manhattan courtroom Wednesday — where prosecutors revealed his alleged plot to pay a podcaster $1.75 million to smear his victims.

The decrepit 74-year-old ex-Miramax mogul had no visible reaction as Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Curtis Farber slapped him with 15 years behind bars, calling Weinstein a “sexual predator” who took advantage of his “insatiable appetite for sexual dominance.”

“I am not a perfect person. I am a person who has made mistakes,” the disgraced Hollywood honcho claimed, before learning his fate on his 2025 conviction for sexually assaulting former TV production assistant Miriam “Mimi” Haley two decades ago.

“I really do have remorse for Miriam Haley,” claimed Weinstein — who was rolled into court in a wheelchair and whom his lawyers called “a very sick man” who has been wasting away on Rikers Island for the last six years.

But Haley teared up as she described what she called a “life sentence” of trauma she’s endured since Weinstein assaulted her in his Manhattan apartment on July 10, 2006.

“It was like a dark and painful secret that ate away at my spirit,” she told the court, thanking the “countless other women speaking out publicly about their experiences” for giving her the courage to speak publicly about her assault.

“It has often felt as though I was the one on trial,” said Haley. “It’s a life sentence for me.”

Weinstein hired private investigators to track her after she came forward with her allegations, causing her to live with constant paranoia and “questioning every encounter I have,” she added.

Prosecutors alleged during the hearing that they had recordings of Weinstein offering a podcaster $1.75 million in a jailhouse phone call to release videos of witnesses “to contaminate the jury pool and to reach the jurors before and after the trial.”

Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg did not identify the podcaster, but Candace Owens released a podcast series in 2025 called “Harvey Speaks,” which featured videos of Weinstein at the notorious city lockup.

The fallen film bigwig faced up to 25 years in prison after his jury conviction for first-degree criminal sex act — and the Manhattan DA’s office had asked for a 20-year sentence for the “significant harms” Weinstein caused.

“I’m not a violent man. I ask for mercy,” he pleaded with the judge.

But, it isn’t the end of Harvey Weinstein’s legal troubles.

He will also face re-sentencing in Los Angeles as part of a separate sexual assault case.

Per NBC News:

Weinstein was originally convicted in 2020 of third-degree rape involving former aspiring actor Jessica Mann and first-degree criminal sexual act involving Haley. He was sentenced to 23 years in prison. But his conviction was overturned in 2024 by a New York state appeals court, and a judge ordered a new trial.

Weinstein was again found guilty in June 2025 of first-degree criminal sexual act involving Haley, who testified that he forcibly performed oral sex on her in his New York City apartment in 2006. The same jury acquitted him of a separate criminal sex act charge involving allegations from former model Kaja Sokola.

The jurors at Weinstein’s second New York trial could not reach a verdict on the charge related to Mann’s allegation, and a third trial on that charge also ended in a hung jury. In late June, prosecutors declined to try the Mann case a fourth time.

Weinstein was separately convicted in Los Angeles in December 2022 of rape and two counts of sexual assault related to a 2013 assault of an Italian actor and model. He was sentenced by a Los Angeles judge to 16 years in prison in February 2023.

He is set to be resentenced in L.A. after an appeals court vacated his original sentence.

The former producer and film distributor vehemently denies all allegations of sexual misconduct, insisting his sexual encounters were consensual. In all, more than 80 women have accused Weinstein of sexual assault or harassment.
