A shooting that disrupted Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner has fueled a range of emotions on both sides of the aisle.

Out of the initial chaos of the moment, one story of bipartisan goodwill has emerged involving US Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Turning Point USA’s Erika Kirk.

The encounter was recounted during a segment of The Glenn Beck Program, as reported by TheBlaze:

On a recent episode of “The Glenn Beck Program,” Glenn spoke with Turning Point USA spokesperson and executive producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show” Andrew Kolvet about Sen. John Fetterman’s recent conversation with Erika Kirk.

“There was a moment with John Fetterman and Erika that I heard about where he was pretty emotional, and he just apologized for whatever he could,” says Kolvet, noting that this conversation happened shortly after the WHCD incident.

“Good for John Fetterman. That’s a real moment,” he adds.

Glenn notes that for some time he has wanted to speak with Fetterman to tell him that despite their political differences, he admires Fetterman’s bravery to take stands against his own party, likely at the expense of being primaried.

“It’s interesting to me that somebody who just says common-sense stuff that is a Democrat … is so chased out of their own party. They can’t have anybody who is at all not a radical. They must have radicals in there,” Glenn emphasizes.

He calls the Democrats out for their complicity in the escalating political violence: “Democrats, you’re not an innocent bystander at this point. There’s too much evidence.”

To be sure, the more Fetterman advocates for civility and refuses to see Republicans as his enemy, the more Democrats relegate him to the sidelines or push for him to leave the party altogether.

When DNC Vice Chair Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta called Fetterman “a mess” in a recent social media post, he was quickly inundated with voices defending the Pennsylvania senator against attacks from his own party’s leadership:

Here’s the full text from the post above:

@SenFettermanPA is the only one in y’all’s group that retains his original core values and principles. The rest of yall boarded the crazy train with a one way ticket to Radicalized Retardville. You stated to Senator Fetterman, “You’re a mess,” and from your vantage point, it seems that way because the crazy train took you and your colleagues so far left that yall almost passed up radicalized retardville, and nearly ended up Marxist Mongoloidville.

It’s blatantly obvious, and unequivocally known, that the cognitive and psychological warfare your masters have heavily injected into country has not only radicalized your supporters, it has even brainwashed people like you and led to you being completely detached from objective reality.

If you were an inanimate object, you’ve a participation trophy, and if we’re being truthful, I know I’m not a proctologist but I know an asshoIe when I see one. Speaking of asshoIes, I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and shit a more sensible statement than whatever you just said. I must admit, I just farted. That’s about as close as you’re going to get to me giving a shit about your fictitious and delusional tirades.

Unfortunately, many on Fetterman’s side of the aisle chose to mock Kirk instead of offer their thoughts or, at the very least, say nothing at all.

Just months after her husband’s grotesque assassination, she offered this reaction to Saturday’s violent act, per The Hill:

“Saturday was yet another traumatic example of the evil in our country and the continued rise in political violence. I’m taking time to spend with my family,” Kirk, who was in attendance at the event, wrote on the social platform X.
