Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is starting a podcast ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
The failed presidential candidate will partner with journalist and entrepreneur Kara Swisher and Vox Media for the midterms and beyond.
“It begins with Clinton and Swisher co-hosting a special midterms-focused limited series, ‘High Stakes,’ that debuts October 14 and will run as a third episode of Swisher’s hit show for New York Magazine, On With Kara Swisher, weekly on Wednesdays. The partnership brings together two bold, fearless and uniquely accomplished women, and will focus on the big themes that voters are most concerned about ahead of the pivotal midterm elections–from the cost of living, to healthcare, to technology–while keeping up with daily developments in the race and analyzing the results afterwards,” Vox Media wrote.
“They will bring in competing points of view from all sides to debate these important issues, trying to define the differences and also find commonalities. Future collaborations between Clinton, Swisher, and Vox Media are to come,” it continued.

More from The New York Times:
The idea for the podcast came this spring at the sprawling home of former Atlantic owner David Bradley in Washington’s upscale Kalorama neighborhood. Ms. Swisher turned up to the soireé, which was being held for Mrs. Clinton, wearing a T-shirt and jeans and began peppering the former secretary of state with questions about a variety of topics — from the upcoming midterm elections to the continuing war in Ukraine.
Ms. Swisher said she thought Mrs. Clinton’s answers were concise and intelligible, and Ms. Swisher wondered why Mrs. Clinton had not taken another swing at podcasting after her solo interview show, “You and Me Both With Hillary Clinton,” ended in 2023.
The two got a test-run when Mrs. Clinton filled in for Ms. Swisher’s regular “Pivot” co-host, Scott Galloway, in August. Ms. Swisher wanted to give listeners the version of Mrs. Clinton she saw that evening, and persuaded her to team up.
“There’s a thing about the secretary, where it’s like, ‘Oh, if you knew her in the room, she’s so funny,’” Ms. Swisher said, adding, “We’re going to try to show you that room.”
“I don’t think the stakes for our country and the world have ever been higher than they are in November,” said Clinton.
“People are hungry for real conversation about what’s happening in our democracy and what it will mean for their families, and I can’t think of a better partner for that than Kara. There will be some discussion, some debate, and hopefully a lot of laughter,” she added.
“She’s a global icon, she doesn’t hold back, and she’s going to bring the audience an invaluable perspective,” Swisher said.
“I’m immensely proud to bring Secretary Clinton–a hero to millions who has had a profound impact making the world a better place–to Vox Media as she embarks on this next chapter of her media career,” Vox Media co-founder and CEO Jim Bankoff said.
“She and Kara are forces of nature, and have an undeniable chemistry as hosts. I can’t wait to see where we take this partnership next,” he added.
The Washington Times noted:
Lupa Systems, owned by James Murdoch, a donor to the Clinton Foundation, completed its acquisition of the Vox Media Podcast Network in July.
Mrs. Clinton has been a frequent guest on Ms. Swisher’s podcast, where she has opined on national politics.
