That thing we are told never, ever happens just happened — once again!

ICE has just arrested yet another illegal alien who unlawfully voted in U.S. elections.

Helda Araceli Mendez-Merida, who is originally from Guatemala, was taken into custody in Indiana.

Immigration authorities say she cast a ballot in a national election, but did not specify which one.

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin shared the details:

NEW: DHS announces that ICE has arrested a Guatemalan illegal alien in Indiana who they say illegally voted in a national election. Per DHS, Helda Araceli Mendez-Merida has had a deportation order since 2019 and she was caught & released at the AZ border by the Obama administration in 2015.

DHS statement:

“The patriots of ICE arrested this illegal alien from Guatemala after she illegally voted in a past election,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “This illegal alien will be deported so she can never again poison our elections. If even one non-citizen casts a vote, it steals a vote from an American citizen.”

According to the DHS, Mendez-Merida crossed the border in 2015, under the Obama administration.

She was detained by Border Patrol but released under failed open-border policies.

Fox News reported further:

It wasn’t clear which election Mendez-Merida allegedly voted in, officials said. However, she illegally entered the U.S. through Arizona in September 2015 during the Obama administration, according to DHS.

She was arrested by a U.S. Border Patrol officer and released. An immigration judge issued a final order of removal for her in September 2019.

“The right to vote is the cornerstone of democracy in the United States,” ICE Enforcement Division Acting Assistant Director Patricia Hyde said. “Helda Araceli Mendez-Merida attempted to subvert a national election by unlawfully casting a vote.

“Voting in U.S. elections is a privilege that is reserved exclusively for U.S. citizens, and we cannot allow that sacred right to be perverted by foreign nationals who seek to undermine American democracy.”

I think it’s a pretty safe bet which party this Guatemalan illegal alien voted for!..

This case — and so many others — show exactly why we need legislation like the SAVE Act to require voter ID in all federal elections.
