One of America’s most powerful union leaders just handed Florida Democrats an election-eve headache they did not see coming.
Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien announced that he cast his first Florida ballot for Republican Senator Ashley Moody.
This endorsement did not come from a predictable party operative. O’Brien leads a union representing roughly 1.3 million workers across North America, and he publicly explained why Moody earned his vote.
O’Brien’s statement focused on pensions, good-paying jobs, apprenticeship programs, and labor legislation.
Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien here. Just voted in the State of Florida for the first time, and very proud to have cast a ballot for @SenAshleyMoody. Sen. Moody has been extremely helpful working with the Teamsters to protect workers’ pensions, defend good-paying jobs,…

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters confirmed in June that O’Brien was reelected to a second five-year term by delegates representing more than 330 local unions in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The union says its membership spans workers in industries ranging from freight and warehousing to public services and aviation.
This is more than a celebrity endorsement. It is a direct signal from the elected head of one of the nation’s largest labor organizations.
Moody welcomed the support and made the case that protecting workers does not require surrendering to the radical Left.
Her response emphasized stronger wages, training opportunities, and the resources needed to prepare the next generation of American workers.
I’m proud to have the support of the Teamsters General President @Teamstersob Sean O’Brien!
I’ll always fight to protect hardworking Americans, strengthen good-paying jobs, and ensure resources are available to train our next generation. It’s been great to deliver for Florida’s… https://t.co/k2V1ESQbCu

Moody’s official Senate biography shows why O’Brien pointed specifically to her work on the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. Before entering the Senate, Moody served as Florida’s attorney general, a federal prosecutor, and a circuit court judge.
Her committee assignment puts her directly inside the debates over labor policy, apprenticeships, pensions, and workplace rules. It also gives O’Brien a practical reason to value a working relationship over the party label next to Moody’s name.
That record stands in sharp contrast with Democrat challenger Angie Nixon, a self-described democratic socialist whose campaign has repeatedly attacked Moody from the far left.
Nixon has even said she wants her Republican opponent investigated and jailed, despite the absence of criminal charges against Moody over the matter Nixon cites.
The Gateway Pundit reports that O’Brien praised Moody for helping protect pensions, defend good-paying jobs, and support union apprenticeship programs. The report also notes that O’Brien wants to work with Moody on the Faster Labor Contracts Act through the Senate HELP Committee.
Those are specific policy priorities, not a vague election-season compliment. O’Brien attached his endorsement to work he says Moody has already done and legislation he wants to move next.
The endorsement immediately drew attention because it cuts across the lazy media narrative that organized labor automatically belongs to Democrats.

Working Americans are not owned by any political party. They notice who protects their jobs, who respects their families, and who delivers results instead of slogans.
Sean O’Brien made his choice public. Florida voters now get to make theirs.
