Joe Biden gave his first commencement speech to Coast Guard Academy graduates in New London, CT., today.
As is the case with most of his in-person appearances, this one didn’t go without several embarrassing gaffes and brain freezes…
In a humiliating moment, Joe attempted to introduce a 2007 grad that he brought with him,n”I brought with me a former academy grad, who now serves as my Coast Guard Mil-A…uh…now I’m gonna embarrass her—” Joe said. Joe finally recalled her name, or it likely appeared on the teleprompter in front of him—either way, it finally came to him.
In addition to not being able to recall the name of the Coast Guard alum he was honoring, Joe also berated the entire U.S. Coast Guard Academy graduation class when told what he thought was a funny joke and didn’t get the reaction from the graduating class he was hoping for.
“You’re a really dull class. Come on, man. Is the sun getting to you?” Biden said after comparing the US Coast Guard with the US Navy. He added, “I would think when you have an opportunity when I say that about the Navy, to clap.
A few people in the crowd offered Joe an obligatory clap, to which America’s punchline Joe Biden replied, “All kidding aside, being here together is a victory in and of itself.”
President Biden called graduates of the Coast Guard Academy "dull" after they didn't clap during his speech.

Biden also warned that as climate change opens new sea routes in the Arctic, cadets will conduct more remote Arctic operations.
