Montana Republican Senator Steve Daines is in Montana this weekend for his daughter’s wedding. Earlier in the week, it was a worry that he would throw today’s confirmation vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in doubt.

Daines told the AP on Thursday that two things are going to happen this weekend. He said there would be a new Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh and he’s going to walk his daughter down the aisle. What did he know that we didn’t? As it turns out, there was a plan to fly Daines via private jet back to D.C. to vote on Judge Kavanaugh.

Well, it turns out that Senator Lisa Murkowski will vote ‘present’ in order for Daines to be able to skip the vote on Kavanaugh later today. It’s the least she can do since she was the only Republican to vote against Judge Kavanaugh.

Senator Daines has been supportive of Judge Kavanaugh during the confirmation process. His spokeswoman says he has read the FBI report and saw no evidence corroborating Christine Blasey Ford’s claims.

A recent statement from Daines:

Daines recently spoke about his support for Judge Kavanaugh:

More is at stake than just this one vote. This is a vote against the shameful smear tactics of Democrats. This Senator needs to figure out how to be there for the vote on Saturday!
