The Rio Grande Valley Sector at our border is notorious for human smuggling so it’s not a huge surprise that groups of Central Americans were caught recently crossing the border illegally:

Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended two large groups of Central American migrants who illegally crossed the border. The groups, consisting of nearly 100 family units and unaccompanied minors, surrendered to Border Patrol agents after they illegally entered the U.S. from Mexico in two separate incidents.
These people were not even connected to the Central American caravan but were lead by human smugglers to the border! The numbers of illegals crossing are staggering. In the month of October alone, over 50,000 illegals crossed between ports of entry.
According to an Obama-appointed San Francisco Federal Judge, these people are allowed to claim asylum in the US even if they didn’t go to a port of entry:
President Trump’s proclamation on November 1:
The entry of any alien into the United States across the international boundary between the United States and Mexico is hereby suspended and limited … this proclamation shall not apply to any alien who enters the United States at a port of entry and properly presents for inspection, or to any lawful permanent resident of the United States.

The San Francisco judge ruled that the Trump administration cannot enforce the asylum ban. If you guessed that this judge was appointed by Obama, you’re correct.
US District Court Judge Jon S. Tigar, a UC Berkeley law grad, issued a temporary restraining order after hearing arguments from the ACLU and Center for Constitutional Rights. A lawyer for the Center for Constitutional Rights claimed that the non-citizens have a right to claim asylum:
“Individuals are entitled to asylum if they cross between ports of entry. It couldn’t be clearer.”
The Trump administration will challenge this ruling in court. President Trump signed a proclamation banning the caravan members from seeking asylum in an effort to stop the thousands upon thousands of people from who knows where from trying to cross our border. President Trump was trying to do the job that Congress refuses to do.
President Trump’s number one priority is keeping Americans safe and that includes keeping out the estimated 500 plus criminals they’ve identified in the caravan. Don’t Americans have a right to NOT have these people come into our country?

During a conference call with reporters Monday afternoon, homeland security officials said “most of the caravan members are not women and children” and that more than 500 criminals are traveling with the group that has amassed on the other side of a San Diego border crossing.
