Things have gotten messy in South Carolina.

The wife of Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) has filed for divorce after Rep. Duncan allegedly had an affair during their marriage.

Rep. Duncan and his wife Melody Duncan have been married since 1988 but that is all coming to an end after Melody filed for divorce.

In the divorce filing, Melody Duncan claimed Rep. Duncan was living with his secret lover Liz Williams who is a D.C. lobbyist.

Rep. Duncan has yet to address the divorce publicly and has neither confirmed nor denied the affair.

Here’s what Fox News reported:

The wife of Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., has filed for divorce, alleging he had at least one affair during their marriage.

In the Friday filing at a courthouse in Laurens County, Melody Duncan, who has three adult children with the congressman, accused her husband of having multiple extramarital affairs and leaving their home to live with another woman.

Duncan, who touts himself online as a “strong advocate for life and traditional family values,” has been married to Melody since December 1988.

The filing, which came around noon on Friday, listed Duncan’s paramour as Liz Williams, who is reportedly a lobbyist in the Washington, D.C. area.

According to the complaint, Duncan “recently left the marriage and has admitted to [Melody] that he has an ongoing sexual relationship” with Williams. Additionally, the complaint noted that Duncan had admitted to the “adulterous relationship to many other people, including the parties’ sons and members of his staff.”

The complaint, which was published by South Carolina’s Index Journal Friday evening, also pointed to an August 28 event that Duncan hosted that was dubbed the “Faith and Freedom BBQ,” a conservative fundraising event where he referred to Melody as a loving and supportive wife.

Per the New York Post:

A South Carolina congressman who campaigns as an advocate for “traditional family values” carried out multiple affairs during his 34-year marriage, his wife claimed in divorce papers.

Melody Duncan accused GOP Rep. Jeff Duncan in Friday’s filing of abandoning his family to live with his mistress, who is reportedly a lobbyist in the Washington, D.C. area, according to court documents.

Duncan “admitted this adulterous relationship to many people, including [the couple’s three sons] and members of his staff,” the filing claims.

The 57-year-old conservative allegedly flaunted the affair in front of Melody’s face while purporting to carry on a healthy marriage in front of his constituents while on his re-election campaign trail.

Just last month, Duncan described Melody as a “supportive and loving wife” at his 12th annual Faith and Freedom BBQ — one of the largest annual Republican gatherings in South Carolina that typically draws thousands of people.
