NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast was in the middle of an interview with Brandon Brown, who won his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Talladega Superspeedway when the crowd in the stands behind them erupted into a loud “F— Joe Biden!” chant, popularized by students and fans at major athletic events. Stavast, whether intentionally or innocently addressed the crowd’s chant, as she told Brown the crowd was chanting “Let’s go, Brandon!”

“Let’s go, Brandon!” quickly replaced the more vulgar “F— Joe Biden!” chant.

Earlier this week, we wrote about Brandon Brown’s struggle to get sponsors for his vehicle after the “Let’s Go Brandon!” chant became a national sensation.

In a press release, the Brandonbilt Motorsports team announced their new major sponsor of Brandon Brown’s Number 68 Chevrolet Camaro for all 33 NASCAR races. The Cryptocurrency Meme Coin LGBcoin.io will be Brandon’s full-season primary partner for Brandonbilt Motorsports in the 2022 NASCAR season.

Shortly after Brown’s announcement, Fox Sports NASCAR reporter tweeted an update, revealing that “NASCAR has not yet approved the scheme.” He explained, “Sponsorship needs to go through a formal process, which has not yet occurred.” Pockrass explained that NASCAR’s decision on Brown’s new sponsor would likely come in the next couple of weeks or so.

Perhaps NASCAR should’ve read the room before making their announcement to their mostly conservative fan base. They were immediately hammered by fans on social media following their announcement.
Here are a few of the remarks on Twitter:
NASCAR… I’ve seen you nix far less offensive sponsors but I want to assure you I’ll never watch another broadcast of any series if this goes on the track. promise.

Willie Whitaker wrote: Will be a lot of boycotting if this gets shot down unless nascar wants to fund his team the whole year the kid supposed to get the spotlight on landing a full time sponsor and what does nascar do rain the the parade and throws him under the bus again shame on you nascar

“VoltsWagon” wrote: They approved the BLM sponsor last year…  Explain the difference if it’s not approved.

Patti “NYE Party of Three” Cakes responded to NASCAR’s statement with an interesting take on how NBC is the party responsible for Brown not being able to get a sponsor. Perhaps NBC should sponsor him?

This car will not hurt me any more than any of the other political cars. This is a sponsor driven sport. No sponsor = no driver. He got crushed by NBC’s screw up, so just let the guy have a sponsor and race. I’m not a fan of Hooters either, but I didn’t freak out about their car.

Pat Naughton appears to agree with the previous statement, saying the NBC should “pony up” since it’s their fault Brandon is in the difficult position of not being able to find a sponsor thanks to their reporter’s screw-up.
