New Iowa Polls Show Surprising Gain In Popularity By GOP Candidate

By Graham | Jan 11, 2024

Nikki Haley has surpassed Gov. Ron DeSantis in a recent Iowa poll.

The poll shows DeSantis polling at a measly 13 percent while Nikki Haley is now polling at 20%.

Of course, President Trump outshines every with 54% of the votes.

Her rise in popularity will likely allow her to rise to second place in the primaries.

Fox News shares more on the story:

A new poll in Iowa released four days before the state’s caucuses lead off the Republican presidential nominating calendar suggests that former ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has moved past Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for a distant second place behind former President Trump.

According to a Suffolk University survey of 500 Iowa voters likely to participate in Monday’s GOP presidential caucuses, Trump stands at 54% support, with Haley at 20% and DeSantis at 13%.

The poll was conducted from Jan. 6-10, when Haley and DeSantis faced off in a primetime debate in Iowa, while Trump simultaneously took part in a Fox News town hall.

Multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur and first-time candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who has relentlessly campaigned across the Hawkeye State the past couple of months, stood at 6% support in the poll.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who did not campaign in Iowa this cycle as he concentrated nearly all his efforts on New Hampshire, which holds the first primary in the GOP calendar votes eight days after Iowa, registered at 2% in the survey.

Vivek Ramaswamy has his prediction on what is going to happen soon:

Although many dismiss his prediction as just another attempt to garner more attention.

The Washington Post shares more on the story:

DeSantis has tried to appeal to strong conservatives in Iowa, yet Trump dominates among this segment of the electorate. Seventy percent of “very conservative” voters back the former president compared with 14 percent for DeSantis and 11 percent for Haley.

Haley is even better positioned for New Hampshire’s Jan. 23 primary, and a strong performance in Iowa could help her mount a challenge to Trump in the Granite State. A USA Today-Boston Globe-Suffolk poll this week found 26 percent of likely primary voters in New Hampshire supporting Haley, while a CNN-UNH poll found Haley with 32 percent support there. Trump’s support was 39 percent in the CNN-UNH poll and 46 percent in the USA Today-Boston Globe-Suffolk poll.

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie’s withdrawal from the race Wednesday could also help Haley, particularly among moderate voters. In New Hampshire, Christie received 12 percent support in the polls mentioned above, including roughly a quarter of moderate primary voters. Haley led among moderates in both polls.

Despite a few positive patterns for Haley, Trump remains the heavy favorite to win the GOP presidential nomination, with about 6 in 10 Republicans nationwide supporting him for the party’s nomination, according to a Post average of public polls.

Everyone who thinks any of the GOP candidates pose a threat to Donald Trump is kidding themselves.

President Trump has made no effort in the primaries and still holds 54% of the Republican votes.

The other candidates need to drop out and save their money.
