The Mueller report has shown that there was no collusion between President Trump and the Russians leading up to the 2016 election, but that doesn’t mean the witch hunt is over. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York is still pursuing at least three investigations that have not yet concluded.

Sworn enemy of President Trump, former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara, recently told ABC News Powerhouse Politics, “There is still “plenty of evidence” of collusion,” despite a letter from Attorney General William Barr indicating otherwise.

NBC News reports – With a staff of about 220 assistant U.S. attorneys, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York is one of the largest in the country. But that prosecutorial firepower isn’t the only reason why it has become among the most sought-after assignments for aspiring federal prosecutors.

The office, which handles some of the highest-profile cases in the country, has developed such an independent streak that within the Justice Department, it’s earned the nickname “the Sovereign District of New York.”

That’s why any mention of a witness cooperating with the office — as ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen said publicly in testimony on Capitol Hill last month — should inspire fear in potential subjects of that assistance, former federal prosecutors say.

Cohen’s cooperation “would send a chill up my spine” if he worked at the White House, former New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie, who also was a federal prosecutor, told ABC News during the hearing, referring to the ex-Trump fixer’s statement to lawmakers that he was helping prosecutors in their Trump-related investigations.

What’s more, prosecutors in Manhattan’s Southern District aren’t saddled with a limited mandate like special counsel Robert Mueller in his Russia probe; they can follow the trail wherever it leads.

The office has “historically been very independent, with very little oversight by DOJ, especially in the financial crimes space,” said Lynn Neils, a former assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District in New Jersey. That’s the sphere where the office “has made its name,” she added.

“Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, whose legal analysis defending Trump has been praised by the president, said the office’s independence is “one of the reasons” the Manhattan investigations provide Trump with “much more to worry about” than the Mueller probe.

“New York has always had a degree of independence, and that’s a reality,” Dershowitz said. “And I think the U.S. attorneys can take advantage of that.”

“They still have to run their indictments up through the hierarchy and get approval,” he added. “No member of the Trump family is going to be prosecuted without it going through the Justice Department.”

The Canada Free Press reveals the name of an unexpected player in the U.S. Attorney of the Southern District New York investigation into President Donald J. Trump.

From the True Life Is Stranger Than Fiction Department, James Comey’s 30-year-old daughter Maurene Comey is on the SDNY posse that will carry on investigating the Trump-Russia conspiracy.

Maureen Comey is seated second from right in the photo above. She’s  seen sitting between her father, former FBI Director, James Comey, who openly despises President Trump, and her Hillary Clinton supporting mother, Patrice Comey.

Like her father who served as a US attorney for SDNY from Jan. 7, 2002 to Dec. 15,  2003,  Maurene Comey has been an assistant US attorney in the SDNY office since 2015.

Maurene Comey went to William and Mary School, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in History & Music and attended Harvard Law School.

Her position at the SDNY office may have gone ignored had not The Daily Mail raked over the coals of the ex-FBI director’s career as “a hedge fund high roller” living high off the hog,  in an April 1st story.

Watch James Comey’s wife Patrice, “a passionate Hillary Clinton supporter” explain how hard it was to watch her husband get blamed for Hillary’s defeat, and how badly she and her daughter’s wanted Hillary to win the 2016 presidential election. The interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos included a short interview with James Comey who admitted that all four of his daughters “wanted Hillary Clinton to be the first woman president.”

Comey was hot on the trail to destroy Trump’s presidency long before Trump fired him as FBI director.

Now it’s Comey daughter Maurene’s turn over at the all-powerful SDNY.

For the Comey family bringing down President Trump seems to be generational.
