Trouble has been brewing up hot in the city of Dearborn, Michigan for some time.

But tonight’s planned City Council meeting could turn out to be ground zero for the newest powder keg of cultural conflict in the US.

So much so, the Muslim Police Chief has called for people NOT TO ATTEND.

In a nutshell, several provocative Christians have coordinated a series of demonstrations in the city to draw attention to three particular grievances.

One is the undeniable shift towards what has come to be called the ‘Islamification’ of American cities, of which Dearborn ranks near the top of the list.

The second point being the argument that an influx of Muslims from abroad — legally or illegally — brings with it an influx in violence generally inherent to Islam and Islamic culture.

The third point of tonight’s pre-planned protest events is to highlight what the organizers say is a tendency by Police within these cities to use a heavy hand when dealing with anyone who dares to speak out against Islam in any way.

And often that has occurred while the Muslim aggressors in these incidents literally get away with assault, even when the circumstances are caught on video in broad daylight.

You might remember this clip from November of 2025 when Cam Higby was attacked while filming an anti-Islam protest in Dearborn as shared by Nick Sortor — himself no stranger to attacks on journalists:

Now, I want to make something clear at the outset of this story for the sake of full disclosure.

Many of you know I’m a Christian, I take my faith seriously, and I firmly hold to the conviction that ANYONE allowed to immigrate to this country should be held to the highest of standards.

Anyone coming here illegally — that never happens, right? — or who breaks the law after arriving, or anyone not willing to ASSIMILATE and uphold American values…

Send them packing.  That’s my take.

That said, I am going to do my best to report this story ‘as is’ without simply turning it into a hit piece against Muslims, or to the contrary, broadly backing every Christian under the sun.

But I trust my readers know where I stand, so let’s get right into what is going down today in Dearborn.

The central point of potential conflict centers around today’s scheduled City Council meeting.

Several people labeled as “provocateurs” by most of the media are right now arriving in Dearborn to make their voices heard on the points I outlined above.

There is no specific agenda item up for discussion at the meeting that would bring in this much fanfare; only that the City Council meeting is an opportunity to address city leaders with cameras rolling.

As I already noted, Dearborn’s Police Chief preemptively warned residents to stay home and avoid the potential fireworks.

Chief Shahin has since stated that law enforcement has been busy putting plans in place to handle the possibility for trouble.

The Detroit FBI has been brought on board even as the leading ‘provocateur’, Jake Lang, has arrived in the area over the weekend, according to this from the USA Today owned Detroit Free Press:

Dearborn officials say they will protect free speech rights at a planned anti-Muslim rally, but will strictly enforce laws and ordinances to protect public safety.

Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said they have been working with local, state and federal law enforcement partners on preparing for what’s described by organizers as a “Christian Crusader March” in Dearborn on Tuesday, Aug. 18, during a City Council meeting.

The protest is being led by right-wing provocateur Jake Lang, who is making his fifth visit to Dearborn since November, with the help of Detroit pastor Lorenzo Sewell, who hosted Lang at his church on Sunday. Lang’s protests are part of a long history of anti-Muslim protests by some Christian extremists targeting the city over the past 20 years.

Shahin and Dearborn City Council President Mike Sareini said they met on Saturday with the head of the Detroit FBI office about the planned protests.

Sewell spoke with the Detroit Free Press, saying he’s concerned about sharia, Islamic law, being practiced in the U.S. and the growing number of Muslim politicians, expressing anxiety about U.S. Senate Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Sewell also noted that Lang was assaulted earlier this month in Dearborn, saying it shows Islam is violent and doesn’t allow free speech. Three men have been charged in the alleged attacks against Lang, one of whom was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Sewell said he doesn’t know everything Lang is planning, “but I do think he’s going to do a pig roast.”

In addition to the City Council protest that starts at 6 p..m at the Henry Ford Centennial Library, some bikers are planning to drive past at 5:30 p.m. the Islamic Center of America on Ford Road, where Lang burned a Quran earlier this year. (Emphasis added.)

To say what has happened in the past, along with what is being planned according to that report isn’t “provocative” would be intellectually dishonest.

Roasting a pig in an area specifically to protest Islam might be the very definition of “provocative”.

But that doesn’t require the thing to be wrong, morally or legally — just to be clear.

The fact that one of the individuals who attacked Lang in that incident just happened to have a prior alleged murder under his belt would seem to give at least a little credibility to Lang’s argument about the violent nature of Islam.

Lang also shared what he says was Police drone footage recently released of the event, showing the moment he barely escaped the Muslim mob attempting to, well, end him — from the looks of it.

You might be wondering how a Dearborn Police drone happened to be deployed so quickly to catch the event.

But watch closely.

This isn’t response anymore.
This is push-button sky surveillance.

If a drone can be watching your neighborhood this fast… who decides when it goes up – and when it becomes permanent?

My only question on the Dearborn Police drone capabilities is…

If something happens, how long do we have to wait to see the drone footage?  (Crickets…)

Believe it or not, Jake Lang has ANOTHER assault under his belt, received back in 2025, also in Dearborn!

This incident happened right around the same time as the aforementioned Cam Higby assault:

The likelihood of a repeat of past violence triggered Dearborn officials to move today’s scheduled Council meeting to a location more suitable for larger crowds.

The new location is probably also a little more easy to lock down, if I had to guess.

Chief Shahin and the City Council made that announcement on Thursday of last week, with this video release:

It is now being reported that upwards of 50,000 people could arrive as part of the Christian Crusader March.

And there seems to be conflicting plans on whether or not to hit Jake Lang and others with legal charges for so-called ‘hate speech’, as reported by the local NBC affiliate out of Detroit:

Organizers believe as many as 50,000 people could descend on Dearborn.

Sewell said they decided to act after Lang was assaulted in Dearborn earlier this month while protesting. He claimed police did nothing. However, Dearborn police fired back, saying officers responded quickly.

The return to Dearborn is part of a string of visits across the nation to stop what Lang called the “Islamification of America.”

Michigan State Police also plans to be in the area.

“My top priority is keeping Michiganders safe,” said the director of Michigan State Police in a statement on Monday. “The Michigan State Police has been coordinating closely with the Dearborn Police Department. We will have troopers supporting Dearborn police officers as they work to maintain public safety during events tomorrow.”

There are calls from the Dearborn mayor to have the Michigan attorney general get involved with the hate crime unit against the protesters. However, he acknowledges it’s a fine line since hate speech can still be protected speech. (Emphasis added.)

The Mayor’s push to consider hate speech charges certainly doesn’t sound like the “free speech” language being pushed by the Police Chief, despite the Chief also characterizing Lang as trying to cause conflict and division.

That’s one situation we’ll have to watch and see how things develop as today’s planned events unfold.

As of Sunday, Jake Lang was already in town.

He posted the following video showing some of the Bikers who were coordinating to drive past the Islamic Center of America, which should take place just a few hours from when I’m writing:

Those often cited ‘Christian leaders’ in Dearborn have chimed in to the debate, as well.

And if the mainstream reporting is to be believed, they are perfectly happy and contented living in the lap of an Islamic stronghold in the heartland of America.

While I don’t consider any of my readers dumb enough to trust mainstream reporting farther than you can throw them…

I’m not sure we can dismiss that take on the local Christian outlook from inside Dearborn quite so easily.

Not to cast stones without evidence, but when was the last time you heard about a Bible-believing Christian congregation in a place like Dearborn that would have any qualms with embracing the progressive American tendency to welcome radical Islam into the fold?

Ah — my bitter sarcasm made it through a little right there.  But, I said what I said.

At any rate, that is indeed the reporting from much of the mainstream, complete with Christians willing to go on video espousing their perfect harmony with the growing foreign Muslims dominating their city, as covered by CBS News:

Christian leaders, along with the mayor of Dearborn and the chief of police, came together Monday afternoon to send out a message of unity against hatred.

“Dearborn is a place where people can love and draw close to each other and to worship freely. I’ve experienced that as a Christian, as a Catholic,” Rev. Bob McCabe, pastor of the Church of the Divine Child, said.

Lang, who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and served four years in prison before being pardoned by President Trump, is no stranger to Dearborn. Lang and other anti-Islam protesters marched in Dearborn in November 2025, clashing with counter-protesters and claiming the area is not friendly to those who are non-Muslim.

Leaders of the Christian faith spoke out about dispelling Lang’s claims.

“I’m asking that our community would come together and say, you know what, ignore the outside voices and just pay attention to the person who lives next to you because they care about you way more than these people who are driving in from other places,” Pastor Nathan Hayes of Solid Rock Church said.

“Doesn’t say love your neighbor if he’s the same race you are or the same religion you are. Doesn’t matter, it’s love your neighbor,” said Chaplain Rick Neveu of St. Kateri Church of Dearborn.

Pastor Nathan Hayes, quoted in the previous article, was also featured alongside both Christians and Muslims who reside in Dearborn in a CBS Detroit video report on the issue.

Pastor Hayes quipped that the ‘melting pot’ situation in Dearborn “is what American stands for”, as an imam from the Islamic House of Wisdom described Dearborn as a veritable Shangri-La; due in part to the cultural diversity, of course.

As of the time of publication, no big incidents are being reported out of Dearborn.

The City Council meeting slated for 7PM local time is still scheduled to kick off a little less than 4 hours from now.

Pro-Hamas, pro-Hezbollah, and pro-Iran sentiments run strong in the Muslim community of Dearborn

Couple that with the presence of several provocative personalities like Jake Lang, and the potential for serious clashes are there.

Until then, I’ll keep one eye turned towards Michigan’s Islamic stronghold for any sign of trouble this evening, and report back anything newsworthy.
