More from The Hill:

President Trump announced Monday that a slew of allies would be appointed to the boards of visitors at the nation’s military academies, including lawmakers and conservative media personalities.

Trump posted on Truth Social that his picks for the West Point Board of Visitors included Michael Flynn, a retired lieutenant general who in 2017 pleaded guilty to lying to FBI agents.

Other appointees included Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas), Maj. Gen. David Bellavia, Lt. Gen. Dan Walrath, Meaghan Mobbs and Maureen Bannon, an Army veteran who is the daughter of former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

Trump also announced that members of the Air Force Academy Board of Visitors would include conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (Ala.), retired Col. Doug Nikolai and Dina Powell, who served in Trump’s first White House.

Politico added:

President Donald Trump on Monday named a raft of close allies, including conservative firebrands and controversial figures from his first administration, to boards overseeing some of the nation’s top military academies.

The appointments came after Trump last month purged the boards of visitors at the Naval, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard academies as part of his wider push to radically overhaul the military, which he has previously decried as too “woke.”

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social Monday, Trump said he had appointed former national security adviser Michael Flynn to the United States Military Academy’s board of visitors, along with Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas); Maureen Bannon, a West Point alum and daughter of MAGA firebrand Steve Bannon; Medal of Honor recipient David Bellavia; and retired major general Dan Walrath.

Flynn, a retired lieutenant general, served briefly as Trump’s national security adviser during the president’s first term before he resigned in 2017 after reports surfaced that he obfuscated his discussions with Russian officials to then-Vice President Mike Pence. He pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI regarding his contacts with Russia’s ambassador, though Trump later pardoned him.

“They will make our Country proud,” Trump wrote. “Congratulations to all!”
