Text messages from Anthony Fauci’s government-issued cellphone revealed he privately raised concerns that the COVID-19 jab could “theoretically” be linked to miscarriages in pregnant women.
At the time, Fauci publicly said there were “no red flags” for pregnant women, the New York Post noted.
“I asked around a bit more and another issue came up that you need to be aware of,” Fauci wrote in a January 2021 text exchange with then-Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, according to the outlet.
“Since many people have significant cytokines storm and fever after the 2nd dose, this theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester,” he added.

Fauci, Walensky and Murthy had been discussing whether the vaccine posed any risks to women who followed the two-shot regimen earlier or later in their pregnancies.
Walensky responded to Fauci that the first trimester issues he raised were “definitely a good point, [especially] after dose two.”
Days later, on Feb. 3, Fauci said during a question-and-answer livestream with the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) that the FDA “found thus far, and we have to be careful, but thus far no red flags about that, about pregnant women.”
Months later, the Biden White House’s chief medical adviser also said, “tens and tens and tens of thousands of women who have been followed by the CDC, who have been vaccinated when they were pregnant, there’s no indication whatsoever that there’s any increase of any adverse issues in a pregnant woman who was vaccinated compared to a pregnant woman who wasn’t vaccinated … it’s pretty clear that pregnant women should get vaccinated.”
Other communications between Fauci, Murthy and Walensky also showed them weighing the potential risks of vaccination against the risks posed by SARS-CoV-2, the virus caused by COVID-19.
Murthy also mentioned he was “surprised to see WHO [World Health Organization] put out a strong like saying they do not recommend moderna [sic] in pregnant women.”
“Dr. Fauci was concerned in January 2021 that the second dose of the COVID shot ‘theoretically could be associated with miscarriage in the 1st trimester,'” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said.

“The phone contains more than 34,000 text messages and 522 voicemails. Oddly, only three contacts are listed; all other text messages are identified only with phone numbers rather than contact names. It is too early to determine whether any data has been deleted,” Johnson’s office wrote in a press release.
“To protect the privacy of individuals with whom Dr. Fauci communicated, as well as personal messages unrelated to the public health issues he was involved in, it will take time to carefully review the large volume of information the senators received. Chairman Johnson, Chairman Paul, and their staffs will work diligently and cooperatively to release relevant information to the public as soon as possible,” the release continued.
“The text chain released today could have an immediate impact of public health and the principle of informed consent. The text chain below is between Anthony Fauci, Rochelle Walensky, and Vivek Murthy dated from January 25-26, 2021; in the chain they discuss pregnant women and the COVID-19 injection,” it added.

Murthy initially asked whether there was any reason to favor vaccination earlier or later in pregnancy and whether officials had seen evidence of adverse outcomes among pregnant women who had already been vaccinated.
Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the time, responded that there were “no data or theoretical reason” to believe vaccination earlier in pregnancy should be preferred over later vaccination. He also said concerns that an mRNA vaccine could alter a person’s genes were a misconception.
Later that evening, however, Fauci mentioned the evidence of issues with the second shot for pregnant women.
