Countless headlines have been devoted to unexplained disappearances and deaths in recent months, and an update about one GOP candidate for the Oklahoma Senate is just the latest example.
About two days after 54-year-old Barry Christian was last seen, reports indicate his body was discovered in a vehicle parked in a rural area.
Fox News provided additional details:
Officials are still working to determine Christian’s cause of death. The OSBI did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
Christian was reported missing on Tuesday after he failed to attend a scheduled meeting and was last seen driving the same truck found by officials, according to the Harmon County Sheriff’s Office.
ADVERTISEMENTChristian’s campaign site described the District 38 candidate as the “conservative choice” for Senate, vowing to “proudly stand with President Trump” and “fight for the traditional conservative values that make America great” if elected into office.
News of the latest development in the case quickly spread via social media:

JUST IN: Oklahoma State Senate candidate Barry Christian found dead after being reported missing.
The 54-year-old Republican launched his bid for the Oklahoma Senate last year and received an endorsement from his friend Kid Rock.
Christian was first reported missing when he did not show up for a Tuesday meeting.
Authorities later found his pickup truck in the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area.
His daughter, Brooklyn, has released a statement to KOCO, saying her family doesn’t know fully what happened.
“Please pray for our family and friends. Our world is upside down right now. We are still not sure of everything that happened, so please act with grace and treat my dad’s legacy with dignity,” she said.
ADVERTISEMENT“We are extremely grateful to everyone who assisted in the search efforts, and all of the media outlets that shared his information. I know there will be lots of people devastated by his passing.”
Just days before he went missing, Christian attended the Mangum Rattlesnake Derby.
The New York Post also reported on the update:
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed to the outlet that Christian’s 2024 charcoal gray Ram truck was found just off Highway 30, south of Erick, with a body inside.
The truck was located by a ravine near the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area. Because of where the vehicle is located, officials are unable to remove his body, delaying identification, the outlet reported.
