Florida’s Governor, Ron DeSantis, responded to the news that he made President Trump’s “short list” for potential Vice Presidents.

However, Gov. DeSantis did not care too much about the news.

The Florida Governor said, “People were mentioning me. I am not doing that.”

The New York Post shares more on the story:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Wednesday he would not consider being Donald Trump’s running mate one day after the former president confirmed the former 2024 rival was on his “short list” — with DeSantis revealing that he was looking at other prospects, including another White House bid in four years.

“People were mentioning me [as a potential vice president]. I am not doing that,” DeSantis told Republicans his presidential campaign had recruited to be delegates to this summer’s nominating convention during a thank-you call, audio of which was shared exclusively with The Post.

The 45-year-old also went in-depth about who he thinks Trump could and should choose as his No. 2.

“I know some people are really actively seeking it. It seems to me, just from watching kind of the body language and stuff, that you have a handful of folks who seem to be auditioning for it,” he said.

“I think my criteria [for running mate] was different than what probably Donald Trump’s criteria will be,” the governor added.

Even if DeSantis wanted to be Vice President, I don’t think President Trump would choose him.

During this campaign, it became clear that the two are not as buddy-buddy as once believed.

Fox News shares more about President Trump’s “short list:”

During the program, which ran on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Trump was asked about half a dozen potential running mate choices: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Rep. Byron Donalds of Florida, and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, a Democrat turned independent.

“Are they all on your shortlist?” host Laura Ingraham asked the former president.

“They are,” Trump answered. “Honestly, all of those people are good. They’re all good, they’re all solid.”

Trump has a history of making comments off the cuff, and many in the political world see DeSantis as Trump’s running mate as a stretch, since the two and their camps blasted each other for over a year before the Florida governor suspended his 2024 campaign last month just ahead of the New Hampshire primary.

DeSantis talked about the possibility of running again in 2028.

I don’t think he has a shot; he blew it while trying to run against President Trump.
