Michael Chertoff to review Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board after Jankowicz’s resignation

Nina Jankowicz has resigned, and Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board, aptly nicknamed the “Ministry of Truth” by critics, may be suspended. However, we’re not home free yet.

The Biden administration has made the decision to temporarily “pause” the creation of the “Ministry of Truth” amid a great deal of push back towards Nina Jankowicz, the board’s czar with a past of pushing disinformation herself and launching partisan attacks on conservatives. In response, Jankowicz has resigned and two former US officials are put in charge of a review of the Disinformation Governance Board to asses its future going forward.

One of these officials is Michael Chertoff. Chertoff was secretary of the Department of Homeland Security from 2005-2009, under Barack Obama. He also co-authored the Patriot Act–which grants to the government the power to wire-tap phones and conduct searches with no warrant. And to top it all off, he reportedly referred to the emails retrieved from Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian misinformation.

For background, the purpose of the review, from the Daily Caller.

The review of the Disinformation Governance Board will determine how the board can monitor disinformation while “protecting free speech, civil rights, civil liberties and privacy” and how it can increase “transparency” with the public. It will be conducted by the “bipartisan Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).”

The supposedly “right-wing” half of this “bipartisan” council, Chertoff, is to review a Board which inherently infringes on First Amendment rights to ensure that it protects civil rights and free speech, yet he coauthored the legislation which set the stage for this and all other invasions of our civil liberties by the federal government.

The other concerning part of the council is former U.S. Deputy Secretary General under Bill Clinton, Jamie Gorelick. Gorelick worked under the Clinton Administration and was rumored to be Hillary Clinton’s pick for Attorney General, had she not spectacularly failed as a candidate.

That’s one former Democrat appointee, and one whose past shows callous disregard for civil rights and the truth on this board. It cannot be expected for the party which puts forth this miserable “Ministry of Truth” to properly review it in a bipartisan fashion, yet that is exactly what they claim they are doing.

If the future of this Disinformation Governance Board is in the hands of people like Chertoff then we can fully expect for our right to free speech to continue to be attacked.
