Former President Donald Trump was quick to launch an ad campaign in response to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 2024 presidential run announcement.

On Wednesday, DeSantis announced his candidacy for President of the United States on Elon Musk’s new Twitter Space, which had significant technical issues. After the disastrous announcement attempt, both Trump and President Joe Biden took digs at DeSantis for his “failure to launch.”

Trump also posted on Truth Social saying, “I will shortly be putting out two videos on Truth Social. I think you will enjoy them. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

As promised, he released two attack ads in response to DeSantis’ presidential announcement.

The first video labeled DeSantis a “Trump imposter,” suggesting that he was just trying to be another Donald Trump. “There is only one Donald Trump,” the ad said.

The second video reminds Americans how big of a role Trump played in DeSantis’ 2018 bid for governor.

“Ron DeSantis was struggling big time in his primary race for governor of Florida,” the ad said. “Polls revealed DeSantis was failing so bad, he was losing by a staggering 17 points.”

“Ron DeSantis was saved by the endorsement of President Trump. Trump’s endorsement was so powerful, just days after the endorsement, DeSantis took a commanding lead that propelled him to being elected governor.”

“Unfortunately, instead of being grateful, DeSantis is now attacking the very man who saved his career,” the ad continued. “Isn’t it time DeSantis remembers how he got to where he is?”

Trump has been attacking DeSantis on social media ever since it was speculated the governor could throw his hat in the ring for the 2024 presidential election.

Following November’s midterm elections, Trump posted on Truth Social insisting that he was responsible for DeSantis’ success, saying, “Ron came to me in desperate shape in 2017 – he was politically dead, losing in a landslide… Ron had low approval, bad polls, and no money, but he said that if I would Endorse him, he could win.”

Trump said that he “fixed” DeSantis’ campaign and “stopped his Election from being stolen.”

Trump also suggested that DeSantis owed him a certain level of loyalty and therefore should not be challenging him in the 2024 presidential run.

When DeSantis did not explicitly deny the possibility of a presidential run, Trump said, “Well, in terms of loyalty and class, that’s really not the right answer…”
