U.S. Capitol Police announced Saturday it would conduct a “training exercise” with its military partners on Capitol grounds Sunday, November 19th.

“Sunday, November 19 – starting at 4:00 a.m., we will be conducting a training exercise with our military partners on Capitol Grounds. Please do not be alarmed if you see emergency vehicles,” U.S. Capitol Police posted.

“Due to this morning’s exercise, the following roads are temporarily closed: -1st Street between Constitution Avenue, NW/NE, & Independence Avenue, SW/SE -Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd Street & Peace Circle, NW -Maryland Avenue between 3rd Street & Garfield Circle, SW,” U.S. Capitol Police added.

“All road closures related to the exercise have reopened,” U.S. Capitol Police posted later Sunday morning.

The training exercise follows U.S. Capitol Police deterring hundreds of pro-Palestine demonstrators from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters.

U.S. House buildings went into lockdown, and lawmakers were evacuated after pro-Palestine protestors clashed with police officers at the DNC headquarters.

Hundreds of demonstrators reportedly blocked the main entrance of the building and Capitol Police told congressional staff they “working to keep back approximately 150 people who are illegally and violently protesting,” according to Axios.

“Significant demonstration activity, no entry or exit is permitted at this time. You may move throughout the buildings,” the alert read.
