100 Percent Fed Up reported when Jill Biden faced backlash after claiming the Latino community in San Antonio, Texas, was as unique as “breakfast tacos.”

While speaking on Hispanic inclusivity in San Antonio Monday, Jill Biden attempted to praise the work of civil rights leader Raul Yzaguirre and his organization UnidosUS when she compared the Latino community’s unique strength to ‘breakfast tacos.’

Biden has since been mocked on social media for her comments as well as the mispronunciation of the word “bodegas.”

‘As distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio – is your strength,’ She said, mispronouncing ‘Bodegas ‘and calling the corner stores’ Bogedas. ‘

Jill drew criticism after her speech. The National Association of Hispanic Journalist (NAHJ) said, “We are not tacos.”

NAHJ also asked that they not be reduced to stereotypes, saying FLOTUS should “take time to better understand the complexities” of their communities.

“Using breakfast tacos to try to demonstrate the uniqueness of Latinos in San Antonio demonstrates a lack of cultural knowledge and sensitivity to the diversity of Latinos in the region,” the statement read.

“NAHJ encourages Dr. Biden and her speech writing team to take the time in the future to better understand the complexities of our people and communities.

“We are not tacos.

“Our heritage as Latinos is shaped by a variety of diasporas, cultures, and food traditions, and should not be reduced to a stereotype.”

Irene Armendariz-Jackson, the candidate for U.S. Congress District 16 in El Paso, tweeted.

“Jill Biden came to Texas to tell the Hispanic community that we’re as ‘unique as breakfast tacos,”

Irene Armendariz-Jackson also mocked Jill and her husband, President Joe Biden, in a video posted to Twitter.

“Hi, it’s Irene Armendariz-Jackson, and here in Texas’ 16th, it’s Taco Tuesday. And I have a message for Jill Biden. You may think Hispanics are unique as a taco, but I actually found the perfect taco for Joe Biden,” Armendariz-Jackson said while dumping the contents of a taco. “See, it’s just a shell.”

Armendariz-Jackson tweeted:

“I’m an American who was born to legal Mexican immigrants. I do not identify as Latinx. I do not identify as a bo-guh-da. I do not identify as a breakfast taco, either. I’m a proud American woman. I’m a proud Hispanic woman,  Enough of this idiotic racist pandering, please.”

President Biden’s numbers have been steadily slipping among Latino voters, and this latest blunder will not help. Mayra Flores responded to Jill’s comments calling them “liberal pandering” and letting the Bidens know what Latinos care about.

Instead of apologizing herself, Biden’s staff issued an apology for her remarks one day after the social media outrage. The first lady’s Press Secretary Michael LaRosa tweeted.

“The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.”

“The fact that someone actually approved her to say that line in her speech and that NO ONE saw an issue with it is wild. They’re going to be at 5 percent Hispanic approval rating soon.”  -Irene Armendariz-Jackson.
