“Ahmed Refaat’s heart stopped for more than an hour, despite all resuscitation attempts by the medical staff at Zamzam Hospital near the stadium before his heart rate improved gradually. However, his condition is still medically unstable, which prevents his transfer. Unless his health condition stabilises, the player will continue to receive treatment and undergo the necessary tests. The club are following the situation on a momentary basis from the hospital, and everyone will be updated immediately. We would like to call on the media to respect the player’s personal life as well as his health and ask the Egyptian football fans to pray for Ahmed Refaat to be safe and sound as soon as possible,” Modern Future FC said in a statement, according to Kingfut.

Per Kingfut:
Egyptian Premier League outfit Modern Future FC have provided an update on Ahmed Refaat’s medical condition.
Ahmed Refaat started on the bench for Future when they travelled to face Ittihad of Alexandria in the league’s 13th round on Monday evening.
The 30-year-old made his introduction shortly after the hour mark replacing Ali Mahmoud Zaza before collapsing on the pitch with two minutes remaining to full-time.
The game was later suspended as Refaat was rushed to the hospital and placed in an intensive care unit, where his condition is being closely monitored by the club according to their statement.
Two footballers collapsed on the pitch last weekend, adding to the significant rise in player collapses the past several years.
34-year-old Makhehlene Makhaula, a South African professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for South African Premier Division club Orlando Pirates, collapsed Saturday.
“World Football, unfortunately, has been subject to so many distressing scenes on the pitch over the last few years,” a commentator said.
