Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) said on Thursday that President Trump “must be impeached,” accusing the president of “subverting our free and fair elections.”
“Trump must be impeached for undermining and subverting our free and fair elections. And when he sends ICE agents to the polls, then we must turn civic action into civil disobedience and take to the streets,” Markey said.
“Sit in. Protest. Withhold our labor. Everything must be on the table,” he continued.

The Hill shared further:
Markey, one of the most progressive members of the Senate Democratic caucus, called for Trump to be removed from office in April after Trump threatened to wipe out the civilization of Iran if its leaders did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
“With each passing day, it becomes increasingly apparent that Donald Trump is unstable and a clear and present danger, not just to the American people but to the world. He must be removed from office before he causes incalculable and unfathomable harm,” Markey said at the time.
ADVERTISEMENTMarkey urged the House to pass articles of impeachment and the Senate to vote to convict and remove Trump from office. He also called on Trump’s Cabinet and Vice President Vance to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office.
In his speech, Trump said newly declassified records showed the People’s Republic of China acquired an astonishing 220 million U.S. voter files beginning in the 2020 election cycle.
He described it as the largest compromise of American election data in history.

Trump said the newly declassified intelligence assessments show that foreign adversaries possess the capability to compromise critical pieces of U.S. election infrastructure.
More from The National News Desk:
The president, who was impeached for inciting the January 6th insurrection, has a history of challenging elections in unfavorable political environments. He has refused to accept former President Joe Biden’s 2020 victory and campaigned over the past year to restrict mail-in voting that contributed to his defeat.
Trump pushed Congress during Thursday's address to pass the SAVE America Act, which would require in-person voting and proof of citizenship to register.
"How easy is that to do, unless you want to cheat?" He questioned. "The only reason you wouldn't do it is you want to cheat because your policies are so bad and your candidates are so pathetic that you can't get away or can't get elected any other way."
The Senate has been unable to send the House-passed bill to Trump's desk. Republicans, though largely aligned with the president, are unwilling to take extreme action to overcome Democratic obstruction and approve the act with a simple majority. Only a few MAGA megaphones in the chamber have backed Trump's push to change the rules.
