Federal investigators interviewed Rep. Ilhan Omar’s older sister, Sahra Noor, after the October 12 search of Omar’s Washington, DC, home.
The interview marks another significant development in an investigation involving suspected false statements on government paperwork and a possible conspiracy connected to Omar’s naturalization. The scope of Noor’s interview and her status in the inquiry remain undisclosed.
Omar denies wrongdoing and says the investigation is politically motivated. The allegations against her remain unproven.

CNN independently confirmed Noor’s interview through a law enforcement source and reported that the Justice Department is examining whether government documents contained false statements and whether a conspiracy related to naturalization occurred.
Sources said the October 12 warrant focused on whether Omar or her late father misstated her age when she became a citizen in 2000, including whether records identified her as a minor when she was not.
A federal magistrate restricted access to Omar’s documents, according to CNN, which contacted Omar’s attorneys and attempted to reach Noor. The investigation therefore reaches beyond political rhetoric to specific citizenship records, representations made on government paperwork and testimony that could help authorities determine how those records were prepared.
Fox News separately reported that Noor participated voluntarily last week after the search.
Tom Homan has publicly argued that investigators have a strong case. His assessment raises the political temperature, but prosecutors will ultimately have to decide whether the evidence supports charges.

Conservative attorney Scott Johnson has also described a longer timeline, saying agents contacted him in January about Omar and longstanding questions surrounding her naturalization.

The concrete stakes now rest with the underlying documents and the accounts investigators collect. Any conflict between Omar’s citizenship records and the representations made to the government could carry serious consequences, while an inquiry that produces no chargeable case would leave the political accusations without a federal prosecution behind them.
