Just days after expressing his condolences to Tiger Woods on the death of his mother, President Donald Trump reportedly hit the links with the golf legend in Florida before heading to New Orleans to attend the Super Bowl.

Fox News referenced Woods’ recent loss in its article confirming that he played golf with the president on Sunday morning:

President Donald Trump golfed with Tiger Woods on Sunday morning at Trump International Golf Club in Florida before his expected visit to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX, a White House official told Fox News.

Trump is expected to head to the Caesars Superdome for the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. The president’s interview with Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier will also air at 3 p.m. ET.

Trump and Woods have become close over the years. Woods announced the death of his mother earlier in the week.”

It was unclear from available reports whether Woods also planned to attend the Chiefs-Eagles game.

News of the high-profile golf outing soon began to evoke some social media chatter:

The busy Super Bowl Sunday will also include the broadcast of his interview with Fox News Channel’s Bret Baier.

That interview came a year after Trump volunteered to take Joe Biden’s place when the latter yet again passed on the opportunity to reach the American people.

As the Daily Wire reported at the time:

“Crooked Joe Biden has just announced that he will not be doing the big Super Bowl interview. A great decision, he can’t put two sentences together. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO REPLACE HIM — would be ‘RATINGS GOLD!’”

The news that Biden planned to skip the traditional game-day interview — for the second year in a row — came just a few days prior, and a number of critics questioned the wisdom of Biden turning down such a large audience at the beginning of an election year.

The interview was expected to last around 15 minutes — less than one-third of which would air during CBS’ pre-game coverage.

“This is an admission by his handlers that Joe Biden can’t sit down for a softball interview for a football game,” conservative communications strategist Steve Guest commented.
