President Trump may be on the edge of a major Iran breakthrough.
Pakistan’s prime minister now says a U.S.-Iran peace deal could be finalized within 24 hours, with an electronic signing followed by technical talks next week.
Here is the official post from Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif:
We are closer to a peace deal than ever before. With finalisation likely expected in the next 24 hours, Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace deal immediately after, followed by technical level talks next week.
We would like to thank United States of…

That is the optimistic side of the story.
CBS News captured the mediator’s timetable this way:
“We are closer to a peace deal than ever before,”
“With finalisation likely expected in the next 24 hours”
The caution is just as important.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has “never been closer,” while telling media outlets to avoid speculation until the final details are public.
Here is Araghchi’s statement:
The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer. Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content.
In line with our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be shared with the public in due course.

The deal remains unsigned.
AP added the part Washington has not publicly locked down:
The White House did not answer questions about where things stood
Previous declarations of an imminent breakthrough failed to materialize.
So the window is real, and the caution is real.
What makes this different is the pressure behind it.
Even as mediators talk about a signing, U.S. forces are still keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
U.S. Central Command said Iranian attack drones tried to strike commercial ships transiting the strait, and American forces downed them all:
Iran launched multiple one-way attack drones in an attempt to strike commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. forces have downed all of them in recent hours as traffic flow through the strait continues unimpeded. The international trade corridor remains open for…

The stakes run straight through Hormuz.
CBS reported that oil prices fell on optimism about a deal that could reopen the strait to tanker traffic.
That is the leverage President Trump has been building toward: no nuclear weapon path for Tehran, open shipping lanes, and terms that can be checked against real-world milestones.
The next 24 hours now matter.
If the signing happens, it would mark a major turn from strikes and drone intercepts toward an enforceable peace framework.
If Tehran stalls, the world will know who walked away from the table.
